Repentant militants from the Niger Delta region have vowed to stake their lives to ensure that President Goodluck Jonathan is not removed from office by those they called frustrated politicians, before expiration of his tenure in 2015.
The former warlords said in a statement that the plot to chase Jonathan out of office under the guise of fuel subsidy removal protests was a well-calculated agenda to truncate the President’s tenure.

Former Niger Delta militant leaders are meeting in Port Harcourt to assess the mass protest across the country over removal of fuel subsidy. Chairman of the forum, General (Pastor) Reuben Wilson, said on Friday that those plotting removal of the President would fail. He said leaders of the various militant groups decided to mobilise for what he termed the great battle ahead, and they were ready to sink or swim with the President.

The President, according to Wilson, was on a mission to salvage the country by deciding to put an end to fuel subsidy in the country and undertake full deregulation of the petroleum sector. He said most of those mobilizing youths to the streets to protest the decision were already making their agenda known, one of which is to actualize the impeachment of the President.

“Of recent, we were made to understand that the minority in Nigeria cannot rule over the majority. Based on that, President Jonathan went through the valley of death to becoming Acting President and then President after the demise of the late Umaru Yar’Adua. We have not forgotten where these votes came from.

“We have also not forgotten that this same cabal made a pronouncement that if Jonathan wins, Nigeria would be made ungovernable during his tenure. This cabal has since been waiting in ambush to foment crisis,” they said.

Central Bank Governor Sanusi Lamido has a statement to the effect “So, anybody that is still preaching that the problem of Nigeria is Yoruba or Hausa or Fulani, he does not love Nigeria. The problem with Nigeria is that a group of people from each and every ethnic tribe is very selfish. The poverty that is found in Maiduguri is even worse than any

How many would be willing to take up arms for N65 fuel? It seems there are no end of people willing to take up arms to remove not just the subsidy, but the very source of oil from the country.

Lets go there. cool

How I wished GEJ would have succeeded. There was no doubt that he faced many odds, but when you approach it with the kind of reasoning we see of his supporters here on NL it can only get from bad to worse.

Sadly, GEJ's government is finished, but so is Nigeria. Mark my words.

koruji, I am a bit more optimistic than you are. I want to believe that GEJ will take the bull by the horns and lead this country into a brighter future. If he fails in this aspect in the next couple of days, the people will rise up against government at all levels and GEJ or someone else will be forced to lead us towards true federalism. There is no alternative to ONE Nigeria.

May Allah transform GEJ into our MLK/Mandela or better yet, our very own heroic Ebele. I wish Ebele success in his duties and responsibilities. Insha Allah, we shall come out of this a better nation.  All those wishing death to Nigeria can go and hug transformers.

LolZ! You wish Ebele success because you have seen that your civilian putsh has become a terrible own goal? You are smart enough to see that; however, people like Koruji are too bigotted and tragically addled to know that they have suffered a resounding defeat.

No man born of woman can replace GEJ at this time without dismembering the country. In fact, it is only dreamers that allow such thoughts cross their minds. We have never been in a better position to war against those who constitute themselves into our enemies.
Re: ND Militants Convene In PH - Plot Against Jonathan’ll Fail by koruji(m): 3:10am On Jan 15, 2012
Unfortunately I don't share your optimism, and this is based on the fact that our leaders at most levels of governance act like kids. Add to that the fact that Nigeria's foundations are very shaky with many shadowy groups lurking for the right opportunity.

Nigeria is like conjoined septuplets. Each member is virtually complete, but with different firmness in different parts of the body. Separated, 1 or 2 of them MAY survive and live a healthy life and 5 or 6 will either die or live like vegetables. At the same time, their continuing conjoinment is way worse because not only does the seven often than not want to go in different directions , but even when they all agree on what to do and sincerely make an effort, it is difficult for 14 feet under the control of 7 different heads to work in unison.

In essence Nigeria's troubled is partly selfishness, partly by it design.

What do you do for this septuplets other than to separate them? Well, you could separate them into 7 different people and let the cards fall as it may, but you could also separate them into groups that will keep all seven alive, and at least allow them to function much better. This is Nigeria's choice.

Its all about tribalism to you, ko? What own goal are you talking about? Abeg leave that matter.

The issue is not about removing GEJ from office, I want him to succeed despite the fact that his recent actions (or those of his advisers) are the epitome of gross incompetence and cluelessness. If I were you, I wouldn't be too certain that Nigerians cannot sack GEJ, NASS, and the corrupt governors without  the dismemberment of Nigeria.

Stop beaten the war drum - we don't need that at this point in our history. You and other biafrans who wish that the country disintegrates can go and hug a transformer when it does not happen. We shall become the great nation we should be, with or without your support. olodo

I don't know if dismantling this government is any part of this progression or not - and I don't support it or have any suggestions in that regard. What I am suggesting is that Nigeria is following a natural progression towards a state that fits its unsettled condition of being.

The best option would be for all sections of the country to acknowledge two things first of all: 1) that this condition was not by our design; 2) that disaster awaits if nothing is done under calm conditions to rearrange our setup.

Lastly, let me say that WOE BETIDES ANY MILITARY MAN THAT CUTS OFF THIS NATURAL PROGRESSION OF AN UNWORKABLE SYSTEM WITH A COUP. That would be the beginning of the disaster mentioned above. Whoever engages in this had better prepare to be target practice every waking moment of his remaining short life.

What prediction? Na wa o!
The only person that has made a prediction here is Koruji.

I will repeat that I have warned a lot of you over and over about an ethnically bigotted approach to politics. Practically all of the GEJ hatred could easily be traced to two geographic political camps in Nigeria, that hatred has now boiled over into protests, riots and defeat. What next?
That question goes to the Gbawe's, Koruji's, Dayokano's, Rhino's, Eko Ile's, Seanet's, bluetooth's, dilluminatie's, Akanbi Edu's, Demdem's and the hundreds of others like them.

Beaf and the so called niger delta militants should stop tribalizing the issue. GEJ could never have become president without support from the SW and the north, all the votes from the Ijaw and Igbo alone cannot make anyone president.

Ijaws and Igbos attempting to fight the SW,NC, NW and NE would be a suicide mission. This would be a declared war and not an armed protest like the one they did before where the military was not allowed to use its full might. Because of fear of being accused of genocide.

My dear, that is why people must refrain from saying fearful and spiteful things about other ethnic groups, cos when events play out, those who have been quietly observing matters would put in place the mechanisms for self-protection that they have quietly built. It is all about self-defence.
I have quit trying to get people to understand that certain ethnic groups have been customarily threatened by the state and will react more like cornered beasts in many situations. There is nothing like quity and respect.

If a war is declared, far from suicide, any side that can rally oil money will win. There are more reasons and angles than grains of sand to guarantee that.
Also, no one is tribalising an issue that was tribalised from the very outset. More than anything though, it is neither a Yoruba issue nor a Hausa-Fulani issue, rather it is politicians from those areas who have been missusing the protests and giving it an ethnically bigotted hue. This happened even before the protests started and forced those from the SE/SS to educate their people about the trap being set.

I believe that most Nigerians agree and readily acknowledge that the Nigerian condition was not by our design and that disaster awaits if nothing is done under calm conditions to rearrange our setup.  The real question then is, how do we get to the point of rearranging our setup when our leaders will not voluntarily give up power, and we don't seem to have a President who is capable of championing the cause?

This government and its supporters are so shortsighted. They engage in acts with very longterm and serious repercussions to achieve short term ends - the worst part is that they tend to fail at the end of the day, but the repercussions show up whether they want or not.

Raising and praising ND militants is GEJ and/or his advisers answer to the agony of the ordinary Nigerian over the wickedness of removing the subsidy so suddenly.

Forgetting that this same militants bombed GEJ's house before the 2007 elections, and the same militants started the destruction of his government by bombing Abuja. How can the same militants now be seen as a solution to GEJ's difficulties? Foolish government - ND militants are simply using the fuel subsidy as an excuse to re-group and re-arm - they need to appear to be on your side in order to do that. They are one of the reasons it appears to me that this government AND NIGERIA are GONERS.
