Is It Sinful For Christains To Criticize Political Leaders by JimmyBoy1: 9:49am On Jan 22, 2012
It is a known fact that the administration of GEJ is the most criticized in Nigerian history, thanks to facebook, twitter,Nairaland e.t.c. However, it is being preached in some quarters in christiandom that leaders should only be prayed for and never to be criticized. In fact, accusations have been leveled aginst revered christian leaders for keeping mum over the state of the nation in recent time. Therefore we need biblical scholars on NL to give us bible backed insight on the matter.secondly, we also need historians to shows how major struggles were won, maybe by prayers, negotiation, war or civil actions.

"Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation." -
Romans 13:1-2

Romans 13:1-2 is often greatly misunderstood. Many Christians interpret this passage of Scripture to mean that we should offer unquestioning obedience to government, even if it's an evil and corrupt
government. This is simply not true. Most people fail to consider
verse 3, "For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil." Clearly, God is speaking about GOOD government in Romans 13, because they are a terror to evil works, i.e., crimes. But what happens when our government becomes a terror in itself, committing blatant heinous crimes before our very eyes? The Word of God commands us to submit to HONEST government.

However,vs 5,6 and 7 orders us mainly to be subject to the leaders because of what they are. Wicked leaders should be tolerated for what ever power they have.
But in whatever we do,we must be wise, its simple, question or rally against the bad authorities, but when they issues threat expecially on violence, do not persist to agitate the violence, simply withdraw for peace. .
