How come there's no nationwide groundswell of support and protests over the on-going Chevron gas explosion ? Or have i missed it undecided?

During the protests on fuel subsidy removal, there was palpable anger and outright hostility towards the federal gov't and the person of the President, but the same people that made the loudest noise over 'subsidy removal' now seem to have gone quiet over this gas explosion and the recent oil spill in the Niger Delta. Once again, the people on whos land and waters the oil is being exploited have been abandoned by Nigerians (including the Gov't) that have got and continue to get so much wealth at their expense.

This situation can be likened to a group of individuals that expect (as a matter of right) a poor guy to use his money, go out and buy ingredients for a delicious meal of jollof rice, come back to his own kitchen, cook the meal, lay his own table, and then this group just waltz in like they own the place, sit themselves down to a hearty meal, chop belle-full, and then b/4 leaving on a full stomach they each take a mighty crap (of the toilet blocking kind) on his kitchen floor for good measure, then -with a silly grin on their greedy faces- leave the poor sod to clean up their mess, wash the dishes, and deal with the stink shocked .

Pathetic!!!

Federal Government shouldensure that the oil company cleans up the spill.

The government is culpable fi the spill is not dealt with.

Forget about formulaic answers. The OP is asking why there is no #Occupy movement against matters that destroy human lives in the areas where oil is produced. He is asking why Nigerians act like this:

becos, nigerians are more concerned about their personal selfish desires and daily consumptions. they dont care about the niger-delta. just the oil. if a boko haram supporter promises dem tomorrow free oil and money they will vote for him. even here on NL DURING THE HEIGHT OF THE SO-CALLED OCCUPPY NIGERIA , SOME EDIOTS WERE STATING THEIR REGRET FOR NOT VOTING BUHARI.

@ OP

You are right. We can be so selfish at times in Nigeria. I mean, take a look at Asari Dokubo shouting that the murderer of Ken saro wiwa should not be killed. That is the height of selfishness!

I av seen women go on half-Naked protest in Ota, Ogun state over explotation of their environment and resources unjustly. They never waited for the consumers of such product from Warri, Yenagoa or Enugu to join them. It is only a "progressive and vibrant" Delta and ND that will wait for occupiers to give them their own qouta of free services to them.
If they can put pressure on the oil companies to employ their indigeneous labour under the guise of Na-our-resources-and-so we-must-occupy-am, i see no reason why they shouldnt do the oil spillage protest on their own. If they kill and kidnap bravely in the jungle then they shld be able to march in peace.

This isnt the U.S. where their citizen embark on protest by boycotting products from producers and manufacturers who are linked to slave labour in asia.
If u can chop the free oil money under the excuse of 'deve' then be ready to face the responsibilities. . . . . .buncha parasites.
