, nothing really changed my bro. I never displayed any bias as far as N8 is concerned, actually anytime i get a new device, i do tend to utilise it more than the old one but there are some features that are just not present in the new one and its so impotant to me.
1. No, The sim card and MiscrSd slot isnt proper, u like it like that cos u are used to it.. Normally when u remove the sim and u place it back in, the device restarts, so its no use putting the sim above cos the same thing happens when u remove and insert a battery, the phone has to reboot.. The MicroSD should be at least Hot swappable and not the SIM cos MemCard swapping is useful.. even though N8 has both slots Hot swappable bot i dont just go with hot swapping a sim, the device reboots anyway.
2.FM Transmitter, Nope i dont believe u, what was the length of th radio and the phone when u used it? sincerely speaking, i prefer those cheap 1k car mp3 to that of a 701, this morning i connected an extra wire to the antenna hole in d car radio and placed the wire close the space where i actually keep my phone before 701's transmitter could pick up a good signal, i hate that wire though but guess what, it also gave the N8 a boost. cos now i can even sit on the bonnet and still get a good FM transmission, i even placed the phone in the boot and the thing still dey connect..
3. Those are the ones coming, they are not yet here bro. change my mind?? cos of 5.1 surround sound and new widgets?? noooo. well i v got the 701 now so FP1 update will meet me here sha.. hehe, will extract all the new FP1 widget into N8 firmware and flash just like i did for the belle widgets.. i love the fact that N8 is twickable, i know the phone will definitely run away if it sees me again in the next world. lol.
4. Ah, dont compare iphone sales with Nokia. they both have their different market targets in building their new devices. Iphone makes improvements to everything included in their previous designs and releases it when the v reached their targeted percentage of previous sales. but Nokia will make a new device with some improvements on demand and still place some old chipset just to increase the sales of their previous packages. their devices only get all round change if it was for their Flagship.
take for example, CAMERA,HDMI + Multimedia Production,N8.. Big screen + Multimedia consumption,X7.. Sexiness + Bright Screen,701.. Keyboard,E7.. Memory, N9.. Real pocket Pc, N900 and so many other ones. these phones have their own specific target areas so you just go for the one that targets your specific needs, otherwise u gonna keep buying nokias and keeps complaining. thier flagships always has something exciting to go for, just like those days of N70, 5800, N8 and now 808.. (though they v all got their own weakness)
5. ABOUT THE PICTURE. yeske, i know u will argue about that, lol. first, i cheated the N8 with the lightning cos i didn't put the room light on when snapping cos i wanted to know if you are going to take a closer look at them so well, but surprisingly, the Xenon gave a enough light and even made a good capture of the fan blades without a noticeable spin despite the faact that i zoomed, but 701 wasnt close to being ok with the room light off so i switched on the light (its a medium room bulb though) and joined it with the LED flash. ABOUT THE BLADES, N8 shot came out perfectly not only because of its strong Mechanism but because it has a Xenon flash, u are not looking closely enough though, cos if you do, u ll notice some ronded/oval thin shapes that follows the blades, guess that should tell you the blades are spinning, it simply shows you don't know what the N8 is capable of my bro.. a phone that is been used for capturing professional movies is worth the money, . 701 will have shown a bit of the blades in motion if it was in daylight but the mechanism is very slow and LED is no good capturing a moving object. u can give it a shot on your own if you have anyone with N8 around you. am begging. I SWEAR, that is a working spinning fan that was captured by N8. PLEASE ANYONE READING THIS FORUM WITH AN N8 SHOULD CAPTURE A FAST MOVING OBJECT LIKE A FAN's BLADE AND POST IT HERE FOR PEOPLE TO SEE. i believe N8 users should know what their devices can do by now.. and let me make something clear about cameras bro, the Megapixel of a shutter doesnt make its image production the best, just that more details will be included. an 8mp cam could produce a perfect picture quality than a 14mp cam on a photo paper and digital viewing, you only get bigger and more distant image with that of 14mp. you should be considering a goof focal length mechanism with autofocus and a perfect flash and not the megapixel that was produced. 808 has 41mp which could capture a whole garden at the widest focal point but the production is what matters. U can always trust Nokia with good camera mehanism shutters that will even beat that of a real camera. STILL WAITING FOR N8's SNAPSHOTS BELOW, PLEASEEEE

Here again, i uploaded the snaphot of the same fan turned on, with my 14mp Sony camera (not a phone o) as well as Nokia N8's 12mp. U can see both devices displayed the blades as static which is cool, but the SONY's picture seems to have more Whitish appearance which isnt my favourite cos the N8 produced the original colour of the backround and actual appearance of the whole stuff (plus actual focus). i took the shots from the back so u could stop your doubts. u can zoom the pic to see if the fan's control was turned on or not. i resized the pictures so i could upload them..

1. My fm transmitter functions much better than what uve described. Maybe u should consider returning ur 701 to Nokia care.
2. The pictures are great especially for those who like taking pics. This further confirms its a niche phone just like BB whose outstanding quality is rim. For n8 its the camera
But to me a phone is more than just a camera. The 8mp cam on 701 suits my needs and its more than enough for my social needs as I have to downgrade most of the shots to upload them.
I need something thats superb on all fronts.
Look at Samsung galaxy S2 and Iphone 4s they both have 8mp cams but are the two best phones around just because they are not niche phones. They are all-rounders

I think i did mention in one of my post about the very 1st 701 i used for FM transmission, and now that i bought a used one from another person, does this means that both 701 should be sent to Nokia Care? common man.. N97 has the same weak FM Transmitter so i dont blame nokia for repeating the same chipset placement over another model, i was planning on getting N900 cos of its stong FM transmission but its awesome knowing they put that same chipset on N8.
Man, i do understand that you trying to value what you have. its nature. i even knew somone with an E5 always boasting of it as the best phone Nokia ever produced. funny though. The 8mp fixed focus cam suits your needs cos it is the only one that is embedded on your phone and u v got no option. I think i have mentioned that that Megapixels and sizes dosen't really count, it is the quality that matters. if u take a picture with your phone and shrink it to a smaller size, u dont get another quality other than the one that the camera produced so its still the same. There is nothing so "SUPERB IN ALL FRONTS" about 701 as u claimed,( infact am posting with it currently) and that goes to every Nokia devices as well, i did mention of Nokia devices and their own specific feature targets in my previous reply to u, (that is if u went through them before posting). for example, N900 will have been so perfect assuming it has a JAVA feature . 701 is cheaper cos some hardwares has been cut down to reduce cost.. look at the old N70 & N72.. N72 was newer with improved Ram and processor but lacks most hardwares of its predecessor. 701 has improved CPU/RAM plus bright screen to its credit and nothing more.. YES. NOTHING MORE.. A TFT SCREEN, Fixed camera, LED FLASH, Poor Transmission and Video out hardware doesnt make it "PERFET & SUPERB in all fronts"
Well, MR ALL ROUNDER, Galaxy S II has got unique features but has it got your 701's FM Transmitter or 12MP carlz zeiss cam and HDMI of N8? So u see, u dont go with "GBOGBO-ERO" just because its the most talked about in town. you go with what suits your needs, just as u love your 701 and as much as i love N8. although i have a 701 now, the N8 might be slower when processing a complex data than 701 but with few seconds more patience, it gets to the finishing point that the 701 got to. but my 701 can never take a CORRECT snapshot, get me an HDMI Movie enjoyment, serve me good AV out movie or produce me a good Music transmission in the car like an N8. Actually there waz no single light in the room, just the flashes from both camera, u neva noticed any flashlight on N8's shot cos it made an actual focus on the top of the fan,(directing all its focus to the top)leaving other angles including the floor. That is proper autofocusing. Funny u bro.

I think this dialogue has dragged on for too long. So I will want to conclude.

But before that let me clarify the fm transmitter issue. Nokia clearly states that the fm transmission range on both devices is about 6m. Hope u know you're not the only one with an n8. On all online reviews and forums I've seen, none thinks in line with you. Alot of them use it cars and its works perfectly (except if you use yours in a lorry). So I can categorically say that that of n8 is in no way better. If you think otherwise, prove it (and please not with your homemade and flawed research like the one on page 0 about battery life).

Also the camera issue and hdmi issue- I like the way you magnify this and relegate speed of 701 to the background. Well I can categorically say that generally after the UI, speed is the next important factor influencing the choice of users when buying a smartphone (if not n8 will be the most successful smartphone out there).
You only use the cam when you want to take shots and thats all. Whereas, speed affects every single thing you do with a phone including the cam (from startup to shutdown). The cam on 701 may not be awesome but its very good especially for the general user. Your apps run faster, games run smother (especially with its 3d graphics accelerator) and multitasking is fun.
I have alot of startup apps and apps which run in the background which are all very important to me. And I still expect my phone to boot in seconds and run extra smooth and not like some laggy stuff. Infact I cant wait for the 1.3GHz update as what I have is starting to lag a little. You can continue with that slow monster.
Hdmi- is not something most users are even aware of talkless of use. Atleast most people on this forum will attest to that.

701 It is not 2x faster, dumbo. am using both phones.. the speed difference comes in when using alot of memory consuming app at the same time, booting Asphalt 6 to the race kickoff with 701's cpu takes 12sec, N8 took 16sec. i havent gotten any cpu clocking delay below average on n8 yet

Tell me really, do u have any other phone other than 701 so u can really compare this your battery that lasts up to infinity my phones are never idle, i charge both phones at 12midnite, leave it on till morning, both still goes into power savings mode befor midnite, i guess my 701 should last up to the next afternoon if its got a 40% better battery life compared to an N8. I concluded by putting up a summary of the whole stuff from page 1 and u went crazy.
Its not like I went into the ocean looking for facts. I've been involved with symbian for over 5yrs now. Then I used to help people hack their phones and install apps and games (esp Ngage). So more or less I followed the transition of symbian. When I finally wanted to retire, I discovered I needed to change my phone. So I started the research process again. After about 4 months into this phone, u come and tell me its all crap with inferior hardware (more like a device for the masses), and you wan make I gree. No o I had to counter back with facts.

You know what I think superior hardware is? Much better processor, NFC support, much better battery life, more compact hardware, bright screen with CBD. Not just HDMI and camera.
N8 is more expensive only because of the camera (just like you said) and nothing else which I totally agree with. Atleast I know enough device hardwares to know that processors play a major role.

But bros if the features no dey my phone, na your phone dem go dey? Guy I'm very practical o. Its just that once in a while I put some theory to spice it up (afterall without theory, there would be no practical)

You and this 256MB ram sef. U know say the tin no dey sweet you. I know if Nokia says they are distributing 512 or 1G ram for N8 in maiduguri, u will be the first to land there.

U only mentioned what the other phone has in abundance as superior... NFC, good idea but u can always do without it, its just a matter of switching on my bluetooth myself and sending my files without NFC doing it for me. Battery life, u only notice it if the phone is idle, but u get to charge both phones b4 midnite everyday. gbam.. 701 is included with 1300mAh and n8 1200. its just a matter of gettin 1500mAh battery for N8 to get more battery life.
All the features u mentioned are something u can do without my bro. the only problem u have is just reading from the blogs and pouring out everything u see, what do u expect to get when u go online comparing 512 and 256 RAM? do expect to get a double + for the lower one. nope. but on utilisation, overall performance.. i love N8 more than 701 no doubt, even the the steel casin on N8 is sturdy enough for my everyday use,

I mean u no fit understand N8 features that isnt present in 701 so (wey no dey ur phone) there is no point debating on them. this friday will be exactly my 1 yr and 2months using the device, (even 701 wasnt released then) still performs great and the body still glows like new without case protection and jackets... Different device for different purposes, 701 lays emphasis on brighter display and improved processor while N8 is based on multimedia production and cosumption.. its all a matter of what u really want.. Dungeon hunter and Eternal legacy go go blank b4 starting the main game. My spider man is a trial version. I heard asphalt 6 lags on some phones so I didn't bother downloading it.
These were all some time ago. I think fixed versions should be out and plan on downloading them this Easter when I have access to unlimited downloads.

Galaxy note is awesome esp since you like large screens. Personally I consider Samsungs best mobile to be the galaxy s2 (which I think is also their flagship mobile device) and consider the note more of a tablet-cum-mobile. Hope you've thought about the ease of handling a 5.3 inch screen mobile.

If you're still looking in Nokias direction, then I think it would be best to wait for 808 pureview. It really looks like an awesome device with a large support for HD games and softwares. Although it does not have dual core but its got enough to run wonderfully well considering the fact that it runs symbian which is not too processor intensive.
Another option is Nokia windows phones. But they are relatively new and do not have a vast support especially in terms of softwares and HD games. Its better to stick with symbian for now and wait for those ones to be fully developed.
