I have to reiterate , no ideology can rival atheist concepts such as communism and the likes, that were singularly responsible for the massacre of 200 million souls in less than one century.


Can we even begin to imagine the horrendous conditions in China and North Korea , not to talk of Burma, where there is constant strife, degradation of human worth and life, immense poverty and immeasurable oppression due to state control.

Yes, religion in the wrong context , does and has caused warfare, but any attempts to use this as en excuse to project Atheism as some sort of humane and acceptable alternative is madness gone totally wild and mad.

Excuse me, but what sets apart Christianity from "religion"?

What does Christianity qualify as?

These are genuine questions as I've heard more than one person refer to Christianity as a "faith" as opposed to religion.

I disagree. Also this argument is very simplistic. However I would say religion has been employed as a tool to divide and decimate and those abusers of such religion are mere politicans, tacticians and pawns like any who would in the same manner employ another tool for selfish means.
That's not to say that I am of the conclusion that not all religion means harm, some of their purpose was exactly that.

following christ is not christianity. neither is it a religion. following christ simply means emulating his good behavior. say for example, your parents are a very stalwart and virtuous people and they instill those qualities in you. when you grow up you will like to follow their values. does this mean you are following a religion called parentianity ?

The poster is very much on point! I do understand were you are coming from in your argument. There are people who say that evil has been done in the name of religion, and that religion itself is not evil. If that is your point, then you may need to go back and re-read carefully the texts of Christianity, Islam, or whatever religion you profess.

Evil has NOT been done in the name of religion, but rather, evil is a direct precept and instruction from/of religion. There are biblical passages which directly authorize Christians to kill, maim, ra-pe, and mutilate the geni-talia of children; the Kuran is very clear on what Muslims should do to non-muslims and apostates. These evil acts are NOT done merely in the name of religion, they are done because they are authorized and sanctioned by religion.
