A document released in a news report on Friday by the II Fatto Quotidiano daily revealed without proof that the pope’s life may be in danger in the next 12 months.The Vatican however had dismissed the claim, regarding it as “delirious”.

The document in quote was dated December 30, 2011 which was apparently sent by retired cardinal Dario Castrillon Hoyos of  Colombia to the Vatican warning of unspecified plans to kill the pope within this year 2012.

Reacting to the alleged threat, Vatican spokesman Federico Lombardi told AFP: “It’s clear that this document contains crazy considerations that are devoid of any reality and should be discarded.”
