You must have noticed a very grotesque and unappealing trend among Nigerian Ladies; the trend of wearing colorful cycling shorts (CCS) as undergarments.

You must have also observed that the CCS are not worn to be "covered". They are worn to be seen.

Here's a scenario to illustrate my point;

You're about pulling out of Galleria in Las Gidi. There's "hold-up".  Dbanj's "Critical" is playing on Beat Fm; you're nodding your head to the beat of the song and enjoying the whole shebang. You subconsciously look to the left, and the sight that graced your eyes was that of a beautiful lady wearing a black skirt over a yellow cycling shorts.
You look to the right, and the sight is not any better; a sexy damsel is sitting on an Okada, and all you can see are orange cylcling shorts.
The guy in question is gonna be moody for the rest of the day. grin

Nigerian ladies, cycling shorts are solely made for cyclers!
As a lady and a non-cycler, wearing CS as an undergarment in the boiling climate of Nigeria, is both unhygienic and tacky!
Imagine the stench that would attack a husband, when his wife takes off her yeye cycling shorts in the bedroom, after a long day at work. It's a complete turn-off!  embarassed

Ladies, there are alternatives to CS. Panties/booty-shorts and underskirts are more appropriate. cool
Re: Nigerian Girls And Cycling Shorts. by Nobody: 6:38pm On Feb 15, 2012
You call it cycling shorts, they call it tights. grin Those nonsense things replaced underskirts, of which I hate too grin. I know a couple of reasons why they are worn-to prevent their butts from shaking too much, and to cover up when on okada and you're wearing a skirt. To be honest, I don't know how comfortable they are in such clingy material in that hot sun. Overall the thing is razz. Synonymous to naija men and their dead boxers that is scared of water and detergent. Now that's just gross.

OKADA = motorCYCLES

thus CYCLING shorts = appropriate

my baby does this and her coochie doesnt emit a putrid odour after removal, if @OPs babe's/babes' own is emitting such fumes, then OP there may be underlying issues u need to have a gynecologist review for ur babe/harem

It's becoming a transitory phenomenon as it moving from grown ups to the little ones
Re: Nigerian Girls And Cycling Shorts. by Babasquare: 8:08pm On Feb 15, 2012
Funny but true. It's not bad as long as it's clean and the wearer is comfortable in it. Yesterday, a gal came to my house to fetch water. She wore one beautiful red short. I stared at those smooth laps unashamedly which prompted my Landlord to shout at me to go and 'val' the girl since I was wearing a red top too.

your english is more aggravating than the lady's fashion sense

you should spend time reciting New First Aid in English over and over and over again

Its called "tight" in Africa.
Life is all about "Whatever Works" . The idea of doing things because someone says it should be done in a certain way doesnt work for poor third world citizens, @op, you watch too much tv.

That wouldn't be as a result of the cycling shorts, but as a result of the woman's lack of proper hygiene.

White people wear spanx so what is wrong with Nigerians wearing tights if they can't afford spanx and body magic. Although they do need to tone down the colors.

You would rather they wore nothing so your eyes can feast when they are on those okada right? I reckon you would argue about how hygienic it is for them to wear nothing so it can air out right? grin It's a free world, abeg, my sisters what you want. If you want to wear cycling shorts under your wrap na your own prerogative be that!
Re: Nigerian Girls And Cycling Shorts. by ugosly(m): 9:07pm On Feb 15, 2012
@babe thank you for raisin dis topic.
I hav always found 'tight'wearing ladies disgusting and repulsive, and of consider it a crude dearth of fashion sense,if u hav inhibitions about puttin on certain clothings,(hence u must wear 'tight')why wear that dress or skirt in the first place.
Anyway,I just hop som tight wearing culprits are reading this, and will probably change their ways after reading.

you nailed it!

it's the most disgusting fashion faux pas this milllennium. . . .
why do naija babes disgrace themselves with that rubbish? i used to think it was exclusive to the mgbeke babes until i saw a nigerian female artiste wearing one in a music video while trying ride a bicycle. where did they get the idea from?
if a woman knows she might get on a bike then she should wear trousers so i don't have to see coloured cycling shorts under her pencil skirt.
it's tacky!

Na "tight" dey cause all this wahala?

I think ideally, its good for the Bleep ladies. It keeps the extra flesh in check. Its actually not too bad,but when you put on a red or green tight under a white gown it becomes "mgbekelicious"

the whole idea is mgbekelicious to me. . . . it should be completely scrapped.
i would rather see thigh highs, panty hoses, fish-nets, etc than those horrible "tights".

Is there anything we copy from the West that we do properly?

At least ladies who wear buba & wrapper don't appear tacky.

But then buba & wrapper is too "primitive" for oyinbo wannabees.

If those rainbow shorts are disgusting, what of the weave-on some wear like looks like palmtree?
