Lion On Rampage, Kills Two In Yobe by Nobody: 12:42pm On Feb 21, 2012
KANO (AFP) – A lion has killed two herders and 30 livestock in a
settlement in Yobe State, the environment commissioner said Tuesday. “We have a lion on the rampage which has so far killed two people and
around 30 herd”, Ahmed Wakil Sarki said. He said the lion attacked the settlement on the edge of a forest in Gujba
district, 30 kilometres (20 miles) from the state capital Damaturu on
Monday. “We are trying to mobilise our rangers from the wildlife department to
capture the predator alive or hunt it down to avert further destruction,”
he said. Sarki said the lion was believed to be holed up near Damaturu as
residents in nearby villages reported seeing the devoured remains of
animals they suspected to have been killed by the big cat. He added that it was not clear whether the lion lived nearby or came
from afar.

they need to hunt down that lion and kill it, because once such animals taste human blood, they never lose the taste for it, hence it will continue to kill.

What proof do you have that it was the lion that actually killed the people and animals?

A lion is a rarity in these parts, one comes along and all your feeble mind can think of is to hunt and kill it. Ever heard of WILDLIFE CONSERVATION?

Did the lion escape from a nearby zoo. Can't imagine a wild lion still roaming about in the northern part of the country.

Nigeria still has some rich wildlife especially in the northern region. These are the resources our northern leaders ought to have used to develop eco-tourism in their region like Kenya and South Africa. But what do we get? Everybody wan drink crude oyel,

Okay oooooo, Mr. Conservationist, but I can categorically tell you as a zoologist that once that animal tastes human blood it will never lose taste for it, it will continue to have the urge for human. the only option to to kill it! its like deflowering a maiden, and introducing her to the exciting world of  grin
This kind of wildlife doesnt need conservation anymore o!
Re: Lion On Rampage, Kills Two In Yobe by PROUDIGBO(m): 2:51pm On Feb 21, 2012
Hehehehe. grin Nothing wey persin no go hear. I reckon the real 'news' in this story is that there's still a wild Lion in Nigeria that hasn't yet been killed for bushmeat shocked.

Most likely the bokos have struck again, and having ran out of scapegoats to blame, they now want to pin it on the poor Lion seeing as he can't deny it. Next story will be Giraffes and Elephants running amok in central Maiduguri Market. Nice one wink.

This remind of one picnic we embarked last 5 years back in Niger state. We saw life lion and other sought of Animals leaving their natural life. I was like wont this animals one-day face this people staying close to them? though they used barbed wire to separate the animals and labouring village but still those people are not save. undecided

Are they sure if its a lion?

A lion kills to eat.

In sub-Saharan west Africa we don't have lions!!

More to that lions aren't that destructive except its hungry even at that it hardly goes that wild.

After feeding, it is usually as tame as cold water.

What's all this talk about human blood & the craving for it?Lions by nature are carnivorous,it's only natural for them to prey on flesh not grass hence the attack on humans. It has absolutely nothing to do with human blood.Stop spreading bs

So you think it is a goddamn cat? I mean even if i have not seen a lion in real life, at least i have watched documentaries of wildlife na?

No brother I don't think so.

West Africa is blessed with a handful of Cheetahs, Leopards and a very few members of the cat family apart from lions and tigers.

Try and conceive the fact that the folks supplying the news from the village settlement, I suspect should be consciously unaware of the particular cat.

I'm sure the lion escaped from a residential property . I know people in the north keep such wild animals (cheetahs, hyenas e.t.c) not as pets or anything like that but just because they can.
