@Poster, as Life_Style suggested,"Join the church after a while turn the direction of the loud speaker to opposite side then leave", Its a very good suggestion. Not just joining the church but joining the maintenance group of the church and make sure that your main target is to change the position of the speakers facing your house before you leave the church. @Ranks007, Maybe you have not experienced exactly what is happening to the poster. |

I am a Christian, and a lot of people here know my stand when the MOG bashers take the stage. But I must say categorically here that churches have NO BUSINESS disturbing the sleep of others around them. It is wicked and heartless and God will never sanction it. It is a failure of town planning in Nigeria. Look at where Winners Chapel is sited on Sapele Road; far away from where people live, but accessible enough for those who want to worship God there. This is the model that should be adopted and really, it is the urban planning guys who are to blame, because if allocations of land are not given to churches in residential areas, then this would not happen. I can only commiserate with the OP but seriously, there are laws against noise pollution and the church should be called to order by making them strip off the external speakers. There is no reason for placing external speakers. ABSOLUTELY NO REASON! |

@OP, your case na small. Having an experience like that here in Oguta road, two churches in a building on the left and one in a building on the right and the big Catholic church in front. Sundays and friday nights are worse. |

@ OP I live in port-Harcourt and have suffered the same. Now you do not need to worry if you have an agency or not as noise pollution/disturbing the peace is a federal offence. Since talking has failed, you no longer need to negotiate with terrorists. Simply go to the police and lodge a complaint. You may need to part with some money for them to give you some guys to escort you to the church to have a word with the presiding pastor. Also go to court and get some legal something (dont have the right word for it so you definitelky need to speak to a lawyer about it) and submit it to the church (preferably on sunday during service, in the full view of all members present). After that, you would get the permission to take the police and bring down all speakers found outside the church and they would also be warned that should the noise continue, all speakers would be removed and the pastor arrested. Trust me, they would adhere. My mum did this to a curch near us. And after the police came to the church and took down all the speakers, we could still hear them on some nights praying against my family. . . Funny bastards. 2 Likes |

@okija juju, i think you have a pretty good advice here. The court-police process sounds good but then its a long process that requires money too. I will try that and see how it goes. I thought about moving out to another area but then i dont like running away from my problems. Thank you @all. |

Bro your own na small in my street the next compund is a church owned by redeem and facing us is a church owned by qua iboe church, men on sunday na noise to the fullest and again one deeper life now started another one about two houses from my compound, with their ahuja loud speaker , with some raises that will make you sick, when you hear dem lol, Now combine these three noises on a sunday and all other day they wanna have service , boi you go tire, for our mentality, upon all this we are stil poor and blind in logical terms, overdoing religious activity, wey we no no where, and whether its the best option for our solution |

So many times when I come here, see a topic on the board then try to make inputs, some of you won't just let me because of how you've turned that topic into funs. I'll just keep laughing and laughing and laughing till I leave. The poster that needed advice may even end up laughing without knowing what to do again. It's bad. I know it good having funs but when somebody is in a tight corner like this fellow, why turning what he/she expected to funs? If you want to catch funs then go to the Jokes section and let others give useful opinions. We must grow into maturity and not behaving like a child at all times. Remember, you may find yourself in a situation that you need advice from people someday. This place as far as am concerned is the best place that you can get meaningful information on diverse issues and is also watch by millions around the globe. This status should please be maintained. @OP, try this, pack some can drinks like coke,pepsi with sawdust with some wires at the mouth and seal it with candle wax, get some cheap bedside clocks and cellotape it to the can with the wires looked connected, distribute them round he church at night. the news of bomb scare with scare the congregation away and there will not be need for using the speakers. |

I totally support the motion, Join the church and join the technical Dept and with time they would give you charge over the speakers! then change the position of speakers to the nearest Alpha house and watch and see if the Pastor wouldn't move the motion for a "NO" speakers for church service. |

Babzilla:lwkmd, I know right? Where I live in Lagos, we share a fence with a church. A lot of people moved out because of this church. They had their speakers positioned at every outside corner and angle of the church. My dad told them to remove the ones facing our house or there'll be consequences. They did but that night they started praying against my dad. They eventually took down all their speakers as other people started complaining and the police got involved. |

The problem with Nigerians is not the absence of laws but the patience or knowledge to make use of the laws. You case is very simple, make a formal complaint to the nearest police station, brief a lawyer and sue the church. Make sure you ask for damages of at least 10million for the physical, psychological and mental trauma you have endured. Don't forget to urge the police and lawyer to gather evidences to be used in court. Get a sound engineer to measure the decibel levels at your house at night. Get a doctor's report on the damage done to your ears by the noise and the stress you have been through. If you have the patience to see it through, you could have enough money to move out to your own house. |

@op, Seguun has given you the best solution. You get at least 4 louder speakers, a neatly functional amplifier, disc player and a recorded copy of the famous Perikomo music, Ana-edo onu or that of any of the Igbo masquerade cult. If you won't buy, hire them. Connect them properly. Direct all the speakers towards the church and wait until the congregation gather and activities begin, then put on your system. And gradually increase the volume. They will come begging, bet me. |
