Why Call It Nigeria Civil War? by Nobody: 7:24am On Feb 25, 2012
My fellow former eastern region people, I disagree with Nigeria history of calling the episode of 1967-1970 a biafra/civil war, How's that a war?? I know its all past and we should move on with life! of course today people of former eastern Nigeria has moved on with life that's why most ain't doing bad in Nigeria right now!(  but we have to question our history in case of tomorrow).  personally to label that 67-70 episode as a civil war is unjust and unfair!
Do you know that somebody in sokoto or Lagos then never had influence of any war! so why should that be called a civil war?
Do you know that apart from the biafran military men that died in the war,  It has been estimated that up to three million(out of 14 million) people may have died due to the conflict .
and so many other things,
All i read on the internet about biafra on the war is pointing that the east was defending herself from massacre that still happen to this day. From the north to even asaba. easterners were massacred! That civil war tag to this 67 mass killing(even be called genocide or maybe I'm wrong)is unjust, its should be changed though it might not put food on my table but we have to question things in that country especially stuff like this and so on! we are no more in military era!
What actually made 67-70 killings a civil war? I really want a constructive argument from anybody of  ny part of Nigeria here whom can put forward a proof that this is a civil war . I am igbo and I'm proud to be one and most of you that will come here to insult me or my tribe, pls dont expect my reply. thank you

Re: Why Call It Nigeria Civil War? by achi4u(m): 12:57pm On Feb 25, 2012
my brother,i can see the angle your coming from but the did has been done and they labeled it Nigeria civil war as if we fought with nigerians.Had it been we fought Nigerians!, hmmm!!,i don't think the story would've be the same.Next time, let nigeria not fight with mecineries, let them come as nigeria not wit Arab world,Russians,Britains etc, shame to nigeria.it is called BIAFRA CIVIL WAR.

c'mmon lets be real, how is this a war? Ofcourse you know about the asaba massacre that extend to other places in the east? http://www.nigeriamasterweb.com/nmwpg1HarunaIgboMassacre.html
Am i to talk about the massacre that started in the north which led to igbos running home, I dont want to go into details of this attrocities cos it has been treated so many times on Nl and it ends up with most ppl from the west and north believing they dealt the east severe yet still people will come out to label it a war. which war? that a group of people in a region pick up arm to defend itself in their own land after killing most of her ppl.
Re: Why Call It Nigeria Civil War? by ak47mann(m): 4:42pm On Feb 25, 2012
It was genocide not war cool
Re: Why Call It Nigeria Civil War? by Nobody: 4:55pm On Feb 25, 2012
conclusion, the truth is that what happened in the late 60 s isn't war instead  a massacre or maybe self a genocide! I know most people that disagree with me is doing it in favour of where they come from in Nigeria and so it doesn't matter, that is human nature for you.

TO PEOPLE OF EASTERN NIGERIA ALL I WANT IS THAT THOSE GOVERNMENT BOOKS OR ANY SOURCE BEEN USED IN THE EAST THAT HAVE DETAIL OF THE WAR SHOULD BE CHANGED TO BIAFRA MASSACRE/GENOCIDE BECAUSE THERE IS NOTHING LIKE NIGERIA CIVIL WAR! EVEN THOSE SOURCE ON THE NET LIKE WIKI SHOULD BE REWRITE.

I wouldn't mind writing to ohanaeze about this but I believe this isn't all about igbos its about the FORMER EAST REGION.

I wasn't born then but since around 1997 (5yrs old) when I start been Conscious of things around me, so many things that happen from those early years till today(you know what i mean) portrays exactly what its like during the massacre era 67-70 plus the books and internet.
moreover where are you from? cos most people on nl attack issue in favour of their region which isn't bad but you cant hide the truth for long.

I already sent letters to people i know, thank you

@topic, Im no agitating for biafra but believe in regional power. But if this issue isnt address then its unjust meaning tomorrow if such thing happen again people will as well ignore it! maybe tomorrow it will be on your dooorstep. who still talk about the killing of that village in ND,nobody! why? because issue like this, is been ignored and not questioned

What kind of artillery pieces did Biafra have that would fire from Asaba to Lagos? Did Biafra, which could barely supply its troops with rifles, have mechanized long-range artillery pieces (even with which it would need to be a few miles from Lagos to actually threaten it)?People should really use their common sense.

From Calabar to Yenagoa and from Port-Harcourt to Nsukka, the effects of war were ever present and they manifested themselves in forms such as starvatio and resource scarcity.

how? do you still see any scare of the genocide on them apart from the political setting of Nigeria, I believe that when true democracy and competition comes into our politcs then you will see what will happen.

Woah, was just watching one of my lectures and my prof was kinda making mockery of Biafra. I swear to God, wish I could post it here.

"My mother would say clean out your plate because there are starving children in Biafra"
"What's starving children in Biafra got to do with what's on my plate. . . ?"
