Governors from the South-South and South-East geo-political zones were conspicuously absent at the public lecture organised by the Rivers State Government on Friday in honour of the late Biafran leader, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu.

Apart from Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State, who attended the event, his counterparts from Imo, Bayelsa, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, Cross River, Akwa Ibom and Edo were not present at the event.

Though the reason for their absence was not explained, SATURDAY PUNCH learnt that the organisers of the event expected the state chief executives to be at the occasion aimed at paying tribute to the late former military governor of the old Eastern Region.

Orji said he was at the event as the only governor from the South-East, even as he described Ojukwu as a man with charisma and carriage.

He explained that the Civil War made Nigerians to realise the essence of peace and unity.

I saw some SE Governors (Rochas and Obi) gracing the Lagos event with Fashola and Tinubu at Tafawa Balewa Square, and Orji of Abia said he was at the Port Harcourt event in his own capacity and also to represent his brother SE Governors.

I wonder what they would be collecting lectures for ? How to lead 3 million people and get them killed and abandon them midway only for you to comeback and you would be treated like a hero.

this is complete misrepresentation of facts. a lecture that was attended by two governor (Theodore orji and Rotimi Amaechi) was not shuned in any way. There have been a lot of programmes in Ojukwu burial and you expect all the 10 governors to attend all of them

The lecture was convened by the Rivers State government , attended by the Governor and you are bending over backwards to prove a no-point that "south-south did not attend".
A change in the minds of people has already taken place so all this half baked motor park mantra - "he invaded our land ! bla bla bla " is soon going to be the opium of the backward and devilish. Like i said time has passed u by
