OBJ Leads Praise Singers For Adedibu, Calls Him A Good Product
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

By Adetutu Audu

As the Ibadan political warlord, Alhaji Lamidi Adedibu, clocks 80 years today, former President Olusegun Obasanjo has led a horde of praise singers to buy spaces in newspapers to congratulate the octogenarian. Other praise singers of Adedibu whose followers are believed to be masterminds of the unending political violence in Oyo State, are Chief Olabode George, deputy National chairman of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Oluwole Awolowo, son of late sage, Obafemi Awolowo and Senator Gbenga Babalola.

Paying glowing tributes to the Oyo State kingmaker on his 80th birthday in a paid newspaper advertisement published today, Obasanjo said Adedibu has evolved over time into a good political product. He questioned why we seek to change the strong man of Ibadan politics who humanity now has an opportunity to catch a veritable glimpse of, and whose exploits had engendered a new passion for politics and nation-building.

Why for Gods sake must we seek to change a good product? Chief Adedibu has evolved overtime into a good political product.

Humanity now has an opportunity to catch a veritable glimpse of the strongman and the generalissimo whose exploits had engendered a new passion for politics and nation building, Obasanjo stated in his advertised tribute to Alhaji Adedibu to mark his 80th birthday.

Obasanjo, also said in the birthday message that he once admonished Adedibu to quit partisan politics and dwell on politics of wider dimension.

The ex-president said he told opponents of Baba, as he fondly refers to Adedibu, that he (Adedibu) is a dry fish that can no longer be bent, and all that they need do is to tolerate the old man.

Chief Olusegun Obasanjo was not alone in eulogising the Godfather of Amala Politics.

Chief Olabode George, deputy National Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) also wrote that though Adedibu says he does not want any elaborate celebration, he (Bode George) knows that the angels in heaven will blow the trumpet and sing a special birthday song.

Though he does not want media adverts or announcements, the sky will blaze across with banners celebrating this great Nigerian, George said.

The PDP chieftain said he joins millions of well wishers all over the world to usher the Ibadan PDP chieftain triumphantly into greater political responsibility and service to motherland.

George added that Adedibu is like a wine, the older the better. You are not just the garrison commander, you are a 5-star political General, he sated.

Chief George also had a word for Adedibus detractors: They are about to see your rebirth for the Lord. Your God shall renew your strength, the message read.

He ended with a Yoruba song for Adedibu thus: Gboin Gboin Ni Toke, Oke Gboin Gboin! Igba Odun, Odun kan!

Also congratulating the notorious Ibadan politician on his 80th birthday, Chief Oluwole Awolowo, publisher of the Tribune titles, he described Adedibu as a kind man and a good leader.

Your kindness to humanity is exemplary and your leadership quality unparalleled.

Your works and acts all signal that you are indeed a leader destined by the Almighty Allah to be great, Chief Oluwole stated in an advertisement.

Alhaji Lamidi Adedibu has always displayed brazenly uncouth behaviour in Ibadan, especially in the political history of the state.

Adedibu once told a magazine that he is the controller of politics in Oyo State and boasted that all the state governors that have won did so through his contribution and influence.

He incurred public wrath in 2005 when he collaborated with some lawmakers loyal to him and impeached the former governor of the state, Rashidi Ladoja in controversial circumstances.

Ladojas offence was his refusal to gratify the godfather. The judiciary eventually came to the rescue of Ladoja by reinstating him after 11 months.

Recently, on his installation as the new Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Samuel Odulana, the monarch reportedly banned traditional chiefs of Ibadan from partisan politics.

The order did not go down well with Adedibu who doubles as the Asipa of Ibadanland and Ekerin Olubadan, and he shunned the coronation of Olubadan.

Adedibu was reported to have said Olubadan can have his way and he (Adedibu) would have his.

And indeed, Adedibu did have his way. Two weeks ago, the Alaafin Moletes thugs unleashed terror in the ancient city as they stormed the praying ground during the Ed-el-fitri celebrations and attacked one of the Ibadan high chiefs, Olawale Kuye, the Ekerin of Ibadanland and a director of the Oodua group, Alhaji Olawale Oladoja.

High Chief Kuye represented Olubadan at the praying ground.

A meeting of the Olubadan Traditional Council was called afterwards to discuss the attack but the Alaafin Molete, who is also a member of the council, refused to attend, daring the Olubadan and his chiefs to do their worst.

Last week, the Director-General, National Agency for Food, Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Prof. Dora Akunyili, openly accused Alhaji Adedibu of undermining the activities of the officials of the agency in the state.

In a swift defence, the Deputy Governor of the state, Taofeek Arapaja, who was at the gathering tongue-lashed the NAFDAC boss.
According to Arapaja, he cannot sit down and watch his father (Adedibu) molested.

We can now see why Adedibu is difficult to unseat: he has the backing of the terror from Ota.

OBJ is a non-starter.

It shows however, Nigerians deserve the president they get if they cannot stand up for their right.
cool angry sad

I said it before; if they put a ' COW' as president, Nigerians will accept it and say 'Lets move forward'; what a pack of people!
