last I checked politics is a profession. Politicians stand out in Nigeria. I have never heard expatriates ever been shipped to Nigeria to help our politicians convince the people about their insincerity. Our politicians have been doing that professionally independent.

Accountants ke? I have seen imported  tongue(permit me to say) accountants o, especially in all these indian /Lebanese companies. They definately dont trust Nigerians with their funds, most of them employ Nigerian accountants to do the running around while they man the koko.

I can't but agree grin grin and what a wonderful job they are doing!!!

May God help us o. May I ask if Boko Haram is also a job, cos they also hire expatriates for their mission.

, On what basis is the comparism? In my humble opinion, relative to the respective professions in advanced countries like Canada, Japan, US etc, no profession in Nigeria stands out! Also, relative to the respective professions from other developing african nations such as Cameroon, Angola, Zambia, ivory coast etc, Nigerian professionals are better. Now, if we confine the comparism to Nigeria only, a profession standing out or not can not be objectively determined since all the professions in Nigeria have their respective strengths as well as flaws or  short comings! Sentiments and cerebral nepotism aside.
An accountant by profession would choose to blow the trumpet in support of accountancy being oblivious of the fact that our accountants depend largely on western ideas and the profession is equally laden with corruption and ineptitude! Similar criticism applies to other professions in Nigeria.

My brother, You mixed somethings up here, Our problems as a country or in different professions is not a signal that we lack professional in all these of studies you mentioned above, I thinkr our problems is corrupt mind, lack of values and good ethics, which inturn in poor and bad governance from federal to the local government which underrate local content, On this i will speaks for the Engineers, Most of the foreign Engineers only instructs and stand by the standard specified, I most cases , it is still the local Engineers that does the practical works or the finishes. In oil companies you said, There are many Nigerians that are doing well, Even in educational sector, is just that we lack values to ourself.

The judiciary is not synonymous with the Legal profession. The judiciary makes up less than a third of what is the Nigerian legal profession. so u cant judge the profession by d conduct of d judiciary.

In my opinion the legal profession  stands out if not on their effectiveness and trustworthiness but in their proper understanding of what it is to be a 'professional'.

Engineers definitely. It might also interest you that a lot of Chartered Accountants hold first degrees in various Engineering disciplines. Many banks have Engineers as directors, a good example is UBA with half of the board of executive directors being Engineers, including the Group Managing Director himself.

Give it to the Engineers, we stand out anyday!
