The Scheme is for suitably qualified applicants with relevant Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree from recognized Universities in the following professional disciplines:
Engineering
Medicine
Computer Science/Technology
Geology
Geosciences
Environmental Sciences
Graduate Pilot Training
Agriculture
Applicants must have gained Post Graduate admission into a recognized University abroad.

NDDC scholarship is not really a scam, its just NOT being properly organised. Most of the recipients last year are yet to resume because the award letters for 2011/2012 came out in September. The award amount is fixed, $30,000, you have to arrange for visa yourself and find your way to the school.They are supposed to pay your fees directly to your school and give you the balance of the money(if any). For most of 2010/2011 scholars, and a few of the 2011/2012 scholars who had the financial means to start off on their own this session, NDDC just paid their fees January this year. This is over 4months after they resumed, and the balance of the $30,000 have been paid into the accounts of some recipients while some have still NOT received. So if you must have your own financial means to start off while you wait patiently and pray for NDDC to fulfill their promise.
There is no form of communication between NDDC and the scholars, when you even get the number of any staff in that department to ask for information, you are mostly likely going to be a rude reply.

I think the whole shoddiness in the process just creates room for corruption.

I think NDDC should sort out all outstanding scholars and get an experienced team to handle the scholarships. I mean, whats the use of advertising for new candidates when those who received letters last year are yet to resume, and those already in school have not all received their monies.

@Osii, was your schoolarship a postgraduate or undergraduate schoolarship? And what Niger state are you from

@Iyaski, NDDC does not give undergraduate scholarships. All 9 Niger delta states have their quota.

@SSii - Do you have n idea how many people all together were awarded the scholarship in your set and the quota/number from Abia and Akwa ibom? Getting a guarantor- High court judge, natl assembly member, LG chairman has been difficult for me cos i live far away from my state and cant go search for one because of my job- will there be consequences if i use a guarantor/judge from the state i'm staying in. need ur advise on how to go about this part cos its really tasking for me.
