The Movement of the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), on Tuesday, said it killed more than 10 soldiers in a gun battle with members of the Joint Task Force (JTF) rather than the four claimed by the security operatives.

MEND and the JTF clashed in the creeks of Bayelsa State on March 2nd. In the operation, codenamed, Operation Pulo Shield, the JTF claimed it killed Shedrack Itokofuwei, an alleged sea pirate who led the attack and killing of Lt Col Malik and three naval ratings.

I have been to the creeks,the interiors of Delta and Bayelsa so I can appreciate the level of poverty there.If really MEND and other militant groups are concerned about the welfare of the people,what stops them from ameliorating their lives with the money they get from piracy,bunkering and armed robbery.These boys are all millionnaires.They should stop deceiving the Niger Delta people.
