£1.7m ‘con’ by JobCentre staff

JOBCENTRE staff swindled £1.7million by hijacking identities and making thousands of false benefit claims, a court has heard.

The Nigerian-born gang are accused of ripping off nearly £900,000 in tax credits over five years by submitting claims using names, dates of births and addresses raided from the Department of Work and Pensions' confidential database.

They are also said to have netted another £820,000 in bogus claims for Sure Start Maternity Grants — a one-off £500 payment to support pregnant women.

They backed these claims by forging the signatures of midwives, nurses and doctors, Croydon Crown Court in South London was told. The cash was said to have been paid into accounts they had set up.
Prosecutor Andrew Evans said Anthony Ekajeh, 48, of Rainham, Essex, played a "principal" role in the fraud while an executive officer at the Dagenham JobCentre in East London.

He denies conspiracy to defraud along with Fiayo Akinwumiju, 35, of Coulsdon, Surrey, and Olufemi Kehinde, 47, of Acton, West London, who worked in other branches.

Three others are being tried in their absence and a seventh man admitted three charges at an earlier hearing. The trial continues.

A big shame indeed, greedy people, they want to make it big by stealing other people's hard earned money.

How would anybody give a Nigerian a job in sensitive/trusted area again?

How many people go to court to hear or listen to a case before commenting on it? Do they committee the crime or not? Or you are playing the race card as usual? Why did the seventh man admitted three charges at an earlier hearing?

Calling me a fool for posting what the newspaper published makes you even a bigger fool as i did not make up any story there.

@rumourhater

Your rants was tagged as spam by the system or the Mod, i'm assuming that you are one of the accused/suspect in this case hence some of the comments you made in your blocked post.

If the press made this up or exaggerated the case then we will know that pretty soon as the case is on going.

My previous comments was based on what was published by the newspapers and i make no apology for that and i will publish the final decision here when i see it.

You are barking at the wrong tree, if you have evidence of racist abuse towards you then stop ranting like a baby and have your time in court.

Once again, assumptions which are very wrong.
I am not one of the suspects. i am researching on people and behavior and attitude towards different people of all races, religion, gender and sexuality. And dts just to set u straight.

Why assume when u can just ask? Don't u think that would be the more intelligent thing to do?

Call it ranting, I call it education.

Thank God we don't have people dt would rather say and do things based on assumptions especially when they can easily get facts.

Think and spread this to others with d same approach as urself.. What would Jesus do?

I still call it ranting and a silly one in that matter, i don't care what you are researching on, your opinion is your opinion, you don't push it on others, there is nothing educational about insulting people because of their views.

Thousands of people get their news through newspapers or TV whether true or false, you don't need to be in court, hear the case before commenting on it, i would have asked but going by your first post i don't think you deserve to be given any respect.

What do you think Jesus would have done?

Jesus wouldn't assume things or base things on assumptions.

Anyway, I'm done. As u were. Peace!
