yes they do! they should stay away and stop pretending to come and "contribute their own quota" to the economy.
We all know majority of them come to loot the treasury and then use their foreign passports to leave the country after ruining it!

Please help us look for Gov. Dr. Mbadinuju!

If they must come, there must be a law that says they must renounce their foreign citizenship status and take up nigerian citizenship! you would see how many of them would be willing to come and "help" nigeria.

i'm sick of having commissioners and governors telling us they are going to america to take care of their children's schooling (ala iyabo obasanjo in ogun state) as if they are not the ones in charge of making things work here!

davidylan Impressive, I totally agree with you, if Nigerians abroad wants to take part in Nigerian politics, they should renounce their foreign citizenship. so there will be no save heaven for them to run to after committing any crime in Nigeria.

Re: Do Nigerians Abroad Have A Role To Play In 2007 ? by angel101(f): 8:54pm On Jul 09, 2007
Absolutely. Everyone has a role to play in their own little way. It doesnt have to be in governance or political appointment.
Re: Do Nigerians Abroad Have A Role To Play In 2007 ? by denex: 9:18pm On Jul 09, 2007
They should just shut up and concentrate on the new role of seeking citizenship in their hopefully new found homes.

Please oh! We do not have Mbadinuju here.  Did he not attempt to contest the past Guber elections over there?  Why did you not capture him when you had him in your net? cheesy

LAI LAI! angry  Please we are building Nigeria's professional "Brainstem" over here then we will have more to contribute.  You must understand that certain priviledges are accorded  you when you are a citizen in most foreign countries.  Why would we want to give them up when Nigeria cannot offer better?  That does not make us less patriotic, does it
Re: Do Nigerians Abroad Have A Role To Play In 2007 ? by debosky(m): 1:57am On Jul 10, 2007
I agree with david, for politics, not other areas, they should no allow dual citizenship.

the man would steal and then run away with our money under the cover of foreign citizenship? No way.

as far as 'Brainstem' is concerned, yes those people can contribute, but anyone choosing to take up government position should renounce foreign citizenship, afterall would they US elect someone with afghanistan passport as their president? NO
Re: Do Nigerians Abroad Have A Role To Play In 2007 ? by MILITIA(f): 2:18am On Jul 10, 2007
Please you guys should stop your bad belle and read the topic properly.  It does not call for corrupt politicians to contribute to Nigerian politics but for upright and law abiding citizens who live abroad to contribute.  How many corrupt politicians have dual citizenship?  Most of them are in Nigeria with you and highly functional.  What did you do to them?  I beg make una live us alone oh!

We are even doing Nigeria a huge favor by sponsoring ourselves without Nigeria's help.  We want to offer help and you are picking and choosing, when the Nigerian basket is already overflowing with rotten apples and eggs! shocked  Please can you re-direct your frustrations to the right sources
Oh plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, Gimme a break!!

Ohmigosh!  Well I guess they came to Nigeria with "lofty" aspirations of redeeming the political damnation but were converted.  You know in Nigeria, it is the case of "if you cannot beat them, join them! grin  Besides, the loot is just to much to pass up in Nigeria after "washing" dishes in IHOP for many years! grin  Do you blame them?  So you see, if you set good examples for us, we will gladly follow.  Who wan die for nothing? cheesy I do not want to be a convert in "corruption" so I choose to remain here.

So I am helping Nigeria's Political climate by not increasing the number of corrupt Nigerians world wide-- statistically!  Don't you understand that if not for "professionally" minded folks like me, these people over here will think all Nigerians are "419ners"? grin  But as a result of some of our "hard" work and level of "integrity" the outside world is forceD to make a condemning sentence to all Nigerians all over the world.  WE MAKE THE DIFFERENCE OK?  So have some respect!

They should invest in Nigeria.
Re: Do Nigerians Abroad Have A Role To Play In 2007 ? by denex: 12:40pm On Jul 10, 2007
@Seun

you are just wasting your time. These are the type of words they want to hear so they can lambaste Nigeria.

Majority of Nigerians abroad are paupers seeking free education and trying to make ends meet. They have not invested in themselves, you're asking them to invest in Nigeria.

They don't have the money. But rather than say they don't have the money, they will resort to the "Nigeria is corrupt", the "leaders are bad sermon.

The rich Nigerians abroad are those whose parents stole money. If they had plans to invest in Nigeria, why steal in the first place?

Abeg just leave them alone. The ones that may want to invest don't have the money. The ones that have the money, stole the money. Instead of them to let us know the true state of things, they say "Nigeria is bad"

How very narrow minded. U need to educate ur mind (and fast) wether by free education or otherwise before u get completely lost!

Is it not a horrible shame that the Nigerian government cannot guarantee free education for its own citizens (please let no one mention that moribund UBE program) and has to rely on foreign governments to educate its youth free of charge?

@ denex, yes i enjoy the best education money can buy up to the highest level FREE OF CHARGE from the US government. Sad to say my own government could not grant me the same.
By the time i am through i'd be earing in one month more than you can ever dream of earning in 2 yrs. Stay there "voting" and allowing bitterness to eat u up. In case you are interested in free education you can visit the US embassy closest to you.

At least I still have some basic rights. Do you even have the right to chose your leader? Are you even allowed to vote on departmental issues?

Better rest now so you can have energy to stand in line tomorrow.

Yeah some Nigerians pay tax, but others are no different from those "buzu" from Niger, begging all over the streets of Nigeria.

The difference is just the level of corporateness of the begging.
