OP ur patience in replying a lot of these losers and eediots is beginning to annoy me.
See foolish people saying we should live with it because they are the best in Nigeria. Mediocrity is your first name
For the dumb ar.ses hu don't understand, 3 days is to short to change everyone especially when loads of people are working and not every1 has Rafhell as a house boy to send! If they said 1 week or 2weeks, this discussion wouldn't have come up.
If OP is disconnected, do ΰ knw if its even easier for her to get a new one as they'ℓℓ come to the house and do everything. Its all money so if ur that broke Rafhell, shut d f up

FOOLS !!!!

I cant believe what i am reading. You EEDIOTS are busy fighting btw each other about stupid issues.
LOOK at the topic. No one has even bothered to answer the question.

"YES", "DSTV IS TAKING ADVANTAGE OF NIGERIANS."

Disgusting posts, worrying about how others make their money, giving childish advice like "Go start your own" & "Get HI TV"

What are you all talking about ? Have you used HI TV Before ? Try it, then comment.

Which EEDIOT is complaining about DSTV Repeating Programs ? You think everyone in nigeria is Jobless like you and have nothing to do than sit and watch DSTV all day. You think anyone would use DSTV if they dont repeat programs, or should we all join you in your office for a "meeting" and catch up on the one thing that keeps us busy in Nigeria, T.V !! Its not like there is anything else to do.

Please people, if you are going to argue, then fight about why we are paying such a high price for subscription when even in countries that are considered "RICH", people are paying much less. If i am not wrong, DSTV fees in Nigeria are the HIGHEST among other regions.

Enough Playing

Re: DSTV Is Taking Nigerians For Granted! by khukhi(f): 2:28pm On Mar 29, 2012
Can we please take into account the fact that DSTV is a luxury service and not a necessity . If its too high for you then you may not be able to afford it, why not go for something cheaper like Mytv,HiTv,CTL or Star TV they're subscription was N1000 more or less .

Apparently Nigeria has the lowest subscription rate in Africa. In Kenya, a customer pays Sh10, 000 (about N18, 354) for six-month access subscription fee for DStv channels. This includes 35 channels, a satellite dish, a decoder, a smart card and a cable. DStv in that country has four content packages – premium, which goes for Sh6,350 (about N11,665) per month; compact plus - Sh4,000 (about N7,346); compact - Sh2,350 (about N4,315) and family, which costs Sh1,700 (about N3,122) per month.

In South Africa DStv premium goes for R559 (about N12, 397) while compact goes for R260 (about N5, 456).

But from April 1st it'll change to :

(from April 1st), subscribers to the High Definition, HD, Premium will now pay N12,400 up from N11,300. Subscribers to Premium Bouquet will pay N10,300 as against the previous N9,500. Subscribers on DStv Compact will pay N4,800 as against the previous N4,500, while Compact Plus subscribers will pay N7,000 from a previous N6,800. Those on DStv Family will pay a monthly fee of N2,800, up from N2,500. However, there is no increase in the N1,500 price of DStv Access bouquet.

and increases in SA:
Bouquet From To % Increase
DStv Premium R559.00 R590.00 5.5%
DStv Compact R246.00 R260.00 5.7%
DStv Select R157.00 R166.00 5.7%
DStv Mobile R 36.00 R 49.00 36.%

So the answer is No. They're not taking Nigerians for granted.

I think they're taking advantage of the increasing numbers of the middle class across the continent.

Thats true Metalhead...but you also need to remember that as more service (providers decreased they're prices)/ made the internet more accesable, the prices of internet access gradually decreased across the continent. If DSTV company gets serious competition, then they will be forced to decrease they're subscription prices.

.............And i do not work for DSTV.

ndidibabe: This message was sent to my husband's phone by Dstv: ''Dear Subscribers, your smatcard need an urgent upgrade before the next three days. Please come to our office with your smart card for a free upgrade. We have just three days to go''. What sort of rubbish is this? I will abandon my work to join a long queue in their office (as it used to be)for an upgrade? Can't it be done remotely? Why should it last for three days? Fire brigade approach! They are just unserious! No competition..

I just checked their Facebook page and it says they have extended to April 30th for the free swaps.

You are wrong sir!! As it stands, DSTV subscription is higher in South Africa than it is in Nigeria!!

You the end user retains the right to discontinue the services of DSTV should you become dissatisfied with their products and services.

There are other alternatives to DSTV such as and not limited to Strong, HiTV, Startimes, CMTV, METROTV and co. Feel free to cancel your subscription with DSTV and patronize these other cable companies that also offer similar services at a much lesser price.

Quality costs money!!

DSTV is proudly the best cable company not just in Nigeria, but in West Africa. Their services are second to none and they try to offer these excellent services despite the difficulty associated with doing business on the African continent.

Please even here in South Africa, since they know I'm Nigerian my last bill for he Hd pvr was R624 (N12,480) they sent me this message yesterday that i should make a payment of R655 (N13,100), if not i will be offline in no time (That was how it sounded) Now i noticed it is increasing every month. I think since they think/believe 50% of Nigerians are drug dealers so these money is no big deal.
