Christ Our Passover Is Sacrificed For Us by Nobody: 10:30am On Apr 08, 2012
Christ came into this world purposely to save us from our sins (Mt 1:21). God became Man in order to fulfil God’s requirement for man’s sins to be atoned for. This is a great mystery! No man, no angel would have been able to fulfil God’s righteous requirements for the propitiation. The blood of goats, sheep, bull, the ashes of the heifer sprinkling the unclean could not do that either. It is only through the blood of Jesus Christ that sin can be atoned for. Christ is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29). He is the Passover Lamb who was sacrificed for us (1 Cor 5:7). The sacrifices of the Old Covenant pointed the patriarchs to the ultimate One that is in Christ Jesus. The penalty for sin was not paid for until Jesus died on the cross.
Jesus the God was conceived in the womb of Virgin Mary by a miraculous work of the Holy Spirit and without a human father (Mt 1:18, 20). He was born without sin unlike all of us who descended from Adam who were conceived in sin (Ps 51:5). He lived in this world, was tempted like all of us yet without sin (Heb 4:15), yet it pleased His Father to bruise Him and cause Him grief (Is 53:10). Christ became Man in order to be a substitute sacrifice to make propitiation for the sins of the people (Heb 2:16-17). He is the One Mediator between God and man (John 14:6; 1 Tim 2:5).

He came to fulfil God’s original purpose for man to have rule over creation. Man lost it in the Garden of Eden due to sin. But He who is crowned with glory and honour (Heb 2:9) and has all authority in heaven and earth (Mt 28:18) and all things under His feet (Eph 1:22) came to restore this back to man.
We deserve to die for our sin. We deserve to bear God’s wrath against sin. We are separated from God by our sins and we are in bondage to sin and to the kingdom of Satan. Christ paid the penalty of death because of our sins by the sacrifice of Himself (Heb 9:26). His death became the propitiation for sins and removed the wrath of God that we deserved (1 John 4:10). He reconciled us back to God and into fellowship with Him (2 Cor 5:18-19). He provided redemption and we were ransomed out of bondage.

You are in bondage and in danger of eternal death if you do not have Christ in you. Salvation is not based on your good works. It comes from the Lord and not through human effort. Our salvation only comes through the supernatural work of God (Gal 4:4-5). Those who are in Christ Jesus are no longer in bondage to sin, we are alive to God in Christ Jesus (Rom 6:11, 14). As we are in Him we are to live in Him for He is our example and pattern in life. Just as He rose from the death so shall all of us who believed and lived for Him rise up to glory on the last day (1 Thess 4: 14-17).

God bless you.
