Many has misinterpreted righteousness to sinlessness. They ask the different between righteousness and holiness.
Rigteousness is the nature of God impacted into d human spirit that gives him the ability to stand b4 God without any sense of guilt or inferiority complex.
It means if a righteous man sins he is still remains righteous. Because it is his NATURE!
Righteousness is a gift from God.
Eg: the nature of goat doesn't change because he swimmed in an overwhelmed ocean. His still a goat; even if he dies.
Now holiness is a place of God's dwelling.
We are holy cos christ lives inside us.
U know after God stood on mountain sinai to give moses commandment. It was later called a holy mountain. So we are holy cos God lives in us.

Please Compare and Contrast with the OP:

Qadosh

"Holy, Set Apart, Distinct"

The words "holy" or "sanctify" are often interpreted to mean "righteous" or "pure" or something similar. But the basic concept of the word qadosh and its related words is that of "apartness" and "distinction." Each of the nouns, adjectives and verbs from this root express these ideas with a view to a specific purpose or limitation. A survey of the way the words are used will help solidify the concept of holiness used in the Bible.
http://www.ancient-hebrew.org/27_holy.html

The Hebrew word for righteousness is tseh'-dek, tzedek, Gesenius's Strong's Concordance:6664—righteous, integrity, equity, justice, straightness. The root of tseh'-dek is tsaw-dak', Gesenius's Strong:6663—upright, just, straight, innocent, true, sincere. It is best understood as the product of upright, moral action in accordance with some form of divine plan.[citation needed]
In the Book of Job the title character is introduced to us as a person who is "perfect" in righteousness.

at least before we begin to stretch and twist the bible to fit our agenda it is only fair that we understand the original meaning of these words.

Righteousness has it's basis in actions. To Act Right is to be Righteous. If you are sinning then you cannot be righteous this is a modern evangelical/penterascal scam to permit themselves to be as sinful as they like by claiming that righteousness is some abracadabra magic that they can sprinkle on themselves regardless of their actions.

Righteousness is Doing the Right Thing. A goat that is swimming in the ocean is not a righteous Goat because Goat is not supposed to swim in the ocean. Fish that is chewing grass is not righteous either because that is not Right for a fish.
A Doctor that pursues a career in the stock market is not a righteous doctor. A lawyer that performs surgery is not a righteous Lawyer.

Tzedek also means Justice. You cannot separate Righteousness from Justice.

Holiness in english means to be unstained, untainted, to be whole, to not be mixed with other stuff. The english word 'HOly' is used to translate the hebrew word Kadosh which simply means to be set apart.

If I have 100 pounds and I set aside 50 pounds towards my rent then that 50 pounds is Holy to my Rent. Simples. There is no need to twist the meanings of words to press a nefarious agenda.

At the heart of the whole notion of Righteousness is the idea that there is Intention in the universe. That there is a way that things are intended to be.

If a Goat is not intended to swim in the ocean then by acting counter to the way it was intended to act the goat becomes unrighteous.

If a man is not intended to kill another man, then the act of murder is an unrighteous act. The presumption is that our lives and our existence is not an accident but there is an Intent at the heart of it. By adhering to that Intent we are righteous, but deviating from it we become unrighteous. Finish.

Hmm, see theology. Pls, to a lay man like me, Righteousnes is what we TRY to be while Holy is what we CAN'T be cos ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God. No sinner (whether born again or born before) is holy

we all are born in sin and no one is perfect. If u have sinned before (even if its just once) and then repent of ur sins, doing all good and not sinning again, then one can say u're righteous BUT NOT Holy. The imperfection of man has made it impossible for us to be holy. I therefore maintain that only God is holy.

Righteousness is when you are working with God
Holiness is having a Christ like.
I don't think there is a different the two walk along with each other.
When you are righteous it means you are holy.
That is to my own perspective.

that is not entirely true.there are degrees of holiness.there is holiness we can attain on this earth and we must attain it unless we won't be raptured

so you prefer to believe yourself than to believe that you can obey the commandment of Jesus

Holiness is what we strive for and is gradually improved in us by the sanctification of the Holy Spirit. This is not something imputed to us, but something which we are commanded to become:since it is written, "you shall be holy, for I am holy."1 Peter 1:16Righteousness is something imputed to us by the vicarious atonement of Jesus Christ. While we will often talk about striving for righteousness, I believe the best context to understand it is that our"righteousness is as filthy rags"Isaiah 64:6and that the only way we are considered righteous is by the imputed righteousness of Christ upon us.

All this one is convoluted theorising based on nothing but vain conjecture.

Holiness is an english word and anybody can look it up in the dictionary and you can even look up it's etymology and none of it pertains to what you're saying here. Further Holy in the bible is translated from Qadosh with means something totally different from what you are saying here too.

Does it matter whether our righteousness is Louis Vuitton or rags? So far it is your righteousness you're alright.

Now, if we believe that there is Intention in the universe, ie there is a way that things are MEANT to be, then shouldn't the first priority of anybody be to find out just what that Intention is.

Once you find out what is Intended for you in life, the next step will be to try to conform to it as closely as possible. This is the highest goal of Religion.

If Religion is derived from the words Re- Ligere, meaning To Bind Back, then it follows that the purpose of religion is to bind us back to that which is our Intention in life.

This is the whole essence of religion.

The closer you are to that, the more Righteous you become.

What is it that blocks us from living a Righteous life, ie a life in accord with what was Intended for us?

This is a good question worth exploring.
