Hello nairalanders in the house,this is an issue that has been bothering my heart,.
i have a HND in elect/elect(pass grade}.though am currently working in one of the power companies;i have just decided to go for a degree programme,at NOUN,cos of its flexibility and time constraint,i have been given admission to start from 200levels computer science{cos they do not run engr programme.but the issue now is this'''i already have about 4 years experience in power,so taking computer science at this stage,is it really worthless? though i plan to do my master in business adm. pls kindly advise me.

1. No knowledge is a waste, though i would have chosen Open University UK over NOUN.

2. Is it that you cant use your HND for further studies? Not even pgd?

3. Your planned MBA is a better investment of time/money compared to NOUN.

u knw u cant really apply for a job with pgd.employers wud certainly ask for a good grade in ur degree or hnd.secondly,the discrimination of hnd stuff.

I meant pgd as a step towards Masters, cos of grade factor.

Why not combine 4yrs experience + MBA + HND Elect + IT Certifications ?

@keleto, my case is exactly like urs, pls how much is the fees per session (computer science). am very much interested in the noun stuff.

@ganjafama for 1st semester,u pay a total of 45,000 tob 47,000 for everything,including textbooks, then 2nd semester,you pay 15,000.
but exam fee is 1,000 per 2unit course and 1,500 per 3 unit course.

I studied elect. elect engineering. (HND)

My candid advice is go for a Bsc. MBA,HND is not equal to MBA,Bsc. The basics will always hunt you. I don't buy the idea of going to NOUN. I doubt if they have graduated any of their students. Bro look for a federal university around you and go for a weekend program. Many are already doing it.

Finally, please do not encourage anybody (even your enemy)to attend polytechnic. Hnd is a worthless certificate

@deprofessional. pls,ur dislike for NOUN,is it because you feel they ve not graduated any batch since,or do you have any other reasons.

Listen, what is your conviction that good employers of labour will not consider federal and state University graduates before NOUN graduates. Believe it or not NOUN graduates will be discriminated against by the same government that established it. This year is my 11 years of graduation from a federal polytechnic and by September this year I will go for a part time to get Bsc which will last for 5 years. I don't mind the length of time. I will go for it since I can finance it with my present job.


Bros, the mistake we made unknowingly by attending a polytechnic should not be repeated knowingly by attending NOUN.

This pass thing in HND is just too bad, I know someone tgat is similar situation .They cant even do a Pgd with it.

Are you people saying that NOUN is not recognised? Please, I need ur input before I enrol for my Msc program there

maybe be because of pass mark,, but is dat d best?

Pls don't condemn HND my brother because some of us with HND are relevant in many organization earning about 2.5m per annum as starters.
