Boko Haram Is Bad For Romance In Nigeria by Orikinla(m): 12:14am On May 01, 2012
If you have been in Nigeria for decades and stayed in the northern states when there were no terrorists attacks, you would be shocked to even comprehend the catastrophic bombings of the Boko Haram terrorists on rampage today. I have stayed in Abuja and Kaduna in the late 1980s and early 90s and the romantic memories linger for years. But now I am really saddened by the state of insecurity. I was really feeling bad today, but I did not want to let my companion know. She read the bad news and just dropped the newspapers. "I bought a new bag," she said cheerfully with glints in her eyes and put the black bag in my hands. I did not smile. "I wanted you to get a new bag, but not now, " I replied. I would have shouted, but I did not want to hurt her. The last time I shoited at her for being careless, she broke down in tears. And I don't like to see women weep. But some women know how to shed crocodile tears. In her own case, they were tears of love. "It is a fine bag," I said. She smiled and thanked me for appreciating it. Boko Haram is bombing and killing innocent people and she is excited about the new bag she bought? Nigerian ladies in the south don't seem to care about the horrors in the north. I lost interest in even making love to her. What if Nigeria breaks up now, what will happen to the innocent sweethearts still trapped in the Boko Haram zone? This is not our Nigerian Dream.
