Education is a key factor to a disabled child future self reliance. Education helps develop the child intellectually, it helps the child become aware of himself and his environment, it help the child to be sociable (especially when the learns daily living skills and is able to keep himself clean to a certain extent)
Liliane Foundation Nigeria in partnership with the Partner Organizations and mediators have put in a lot of efforts to assist the children in their education both “regular” and “Special” since most children with disability are thought to be useless and often left at home while their siblings that are “able bodied” go to school.
With this intervention children that used to shy away or that used to be sad and aggressive have become happier and sociable people.
As of April 2012, 421 children received regular/special educational assistance, both in the primary and secondary level.
