Hi Tundeprime, It is safe upgrading from os5 to os6
Steps
1.Download the OS6 for your phone.i.e Blackberry os 6 for bold 2 and install.
2.Download the latest download manager and install as well.
3.Backup your phone using the desktop manager.
4.Reboot your system and connect your phone o the system using your usb cable.
5.Start the desktop manager and it will prompt you to install the new software update.
6.Install the new software(ET:45mins)
7.The system will restore your backup after completion and reboot
8.Good to go with os6

Points to note, upgrading both devices is good, but you need to understand that RAM management is key, or else your phone will keep hanging most of the time.
NB : with OS6 on both devices, you can safely only install 3 apps.

@ respondents tnx a lot, my primary concern is the hanging issue...i have lots of apps on my curve 3 now and they r very useful to me. Isn't it best to just go for a bold 4 with a 512 RAM? What's the joy in having a  without apps?

You already know the solution to the issue, I could have not put it any better !!! But may I also add, not too long after you have experienced the joys of the OS6, you will start to imagine the joys of OS7, then not long after OS10 would be released. The beauty of OS7 devices is, they are fully updateable to OS10, just a thought!!!!

you can upgrade your Bold2 and install the OS6 version of the apps to see how it holds up. i didnt have any serious problem with OS6 on Bold2 but then i didnt install a lot of app that i didnt need. if the RAM in your 3G curve is as much as that of the 9700, then you should not have any problem

i will only advise that you upgrade by wiping the devices before installing the new OS. that saves you the complications of incompatible apps and settings
