I think it is time that Africa grounded its fleets of aircraft except for maybe South Africa, it is like Russian Roulette flying on an African Airline. Africans should stay on the ground or fly on Western Airlines only!
How many more people have to die through mismanagement, poor maintenance, poorly trained pilots and general criminal transport control. We can not even build proper roads or railways, so we should keep out of the air and leave it to developed countries sad sad

Those poor people and their families, yet another old plane crashes that should have retired years before angry angry

Isn't this premature? Planes crash all the time, we can only pray they are not as fatal as this.

Besides, there are things going on in Nigeria that suggest this may have to do with sabotage.

Not that we are where we should be, but we need to stop heaping rubbish on anything African around here.

Planes don't crash as frequently in other places as in Nigeria, I reckon.

This one now. Wasn't there another one like 3, 4 years ago?

The rate seems to be higher in Nigeria than elsewhere..

let us pray we are not in for another rash of plane crashes

i don't remember the year, but it was in obj's tenure, and it was ushered in by bellview, then sosoliso, then another that i don't remember

we already had a ghastly preview with the mishap in ghana

the whole thing is a complete and shameful clusterfk - nothing on any nigerian channel other than the scroll bar - all updates are via cnn

if investigated by a serious body, i'm sure you will find the crash was avoidable

more of the usual skirting of regulations with our authorities more focused on settlement than safety

expect a lot of hot air from our placebo placeholder political appointee fuel importer aviation ministrel

Africa accounts for only about 4% of global air traffic, its accident rate is 25%, which is six times worse (less safe) than the average world rate sad

Thanks for those #s. But how are you defining "accident rate", that it is 25% and the global average I guess is ~4%?
