aspabay: Irony of our Leaders: While the bodies of eight CBN staff who were on their way to Lagos for a conference are yet to be identified or are still in the morgue, the Central Bank of Nigeria Govenor Lamido Sanusi went ahead with his elaborate turbaning by the Emir Ado Bayero of Kano this morning as the Danmajen Kano.

Not only was Lamido turbaned this morning, but his friends and associates took several pages in the national dailies to sing his praises and congratulate him on the 'honour' done to him. IRONY OF LEADERSHIP: Height of insensitivity

There also a family of nine in d plane crash (Aneye Family) that re coming for wedding, and d wedding still hold , so it doesn't mean if CBN Governor went ahead of his corronation, is not the CBN is also a worker n he will leave d position soon

That man is a monumental calamity, turbaning in the in the midst of mourning six of his staff that died on official assignment. That's the height of Sanusi's callousness
As if it was pigs and not humans that died tragically.

Who are you to dictate your mourning standard to him?

Was it official assignment that killed them?

Life is cheap in naija. An average human life worth less than a healthy chicken in d rogue system, call naija.

Same reason why d rogue leaders are not held responsible for their atrocities is d reason why sanusi thinks it is cool to celebrate d death of his staffs that lost their lives as a result of complete system failure. A system that he is a top-notch in.

And he is supposedly the most intelligent man in naija, according to world bank or imf thief(chief)

@ poster, it is a simple thing, if a staff in ur organization passes on, close down the organization for 40days mourning.
Enjoy . . .

sanusi this sanusi that,he is trying to islamize nigeria etc. Islamic banks are already functional in nigeria, why is nigeria not yet islamized?where are the people saying over their deead body? The federal government have declared 3 days of national morning what else do you want. this is a continuation of the smear campaign against those who are given their best for the country while the thieving once are celebrated. In the organisation i belong to we lost 2 members in the dana crash and all we observed was a 1 minutes silence, work continues and thats synonymous with all corporate companies.make we hear word jare, crying more than the bereaved.crocodile tears.

50 lives where lost along Lagos/Benin road yesterday please tell the two governors to shutdown their states for one week of mourning.even if 500 people die on road accident you wont see nigerians exhibit this degree of emotions because na poor people die so life goes on. Same people will argue on the other side if it were to be soludu who went for coronation 1 day after he lost his staff.

You people should free Sanusi. The whole nation including Sanusi, participated in the 3-day national mournining for the Dana tragedy.

When Sanusi and the CBN board announce a N30 - N50miilion gift to each family of the CBN staff killed, because they were on official duties when they died, you people will return here to criticize him all the same.
Re: SANUSI Coronation: Is CBN Not Mourning It's Staff? by ballabriggs: 2:01pm On Jun 10, 2012
A 30 years old Igbo man dies, you could even throw a funeral party with music blaring from the speakers for him, his parents would be there on his funeral. A 30 years old Yoruba man dies, his funeral is low key, his parents don't want to see the funeral.

Morality is not absolute but relative in my opinion. Situations and circumstances underpins right or wrong. What is right in your culture may not be right in another mans culture. Let's understand the fact that everybody cannot be the same, it is critical in living harmoniously.

So What has traditional title got to do with the event that happened.

If you are even meant to present your argument, you could have spoken about donations (similar to the kano donation) to families or speech. His traditional title got nothing to do with his staffs.

Now What has our aviation Minister (the sector it concern) done in remembrance of the victim ?

At least he shuld have the feelings of his staffs that died and postpone whatever he's doing for now. I believe from that day, sanusi has already known the people that will replace the dead one's

Do you think it's a joke when SLS spent millions promoting islamic banking over the country ?
Do you think the guy was drunk when he presented N100 millions to Kano State ? The guy,SLS desires one thing and he doesn't give a Bleep who dies in the process of him getting what he want .

SLS is not only dangerous, the guy is deadly !

1. Sanusi was a Kano prince before he became CBN Governor. His life as a Prince is separate from his job as a CBN Governor

2. Only the Emir of Kano has the power to postpone, not Sanusi.

I swear, anyone who does not understand these basic facts and turns around to blame Sanusi is a m0r0n!

What do you mean? NUC lost 4 staff and ‎they postponed their 60th anniversary indefinitely. CBN lost TEN (10) staff and they are busy celebrating one thief. Hmmm naija and their mentality.
You deserve your leaders.
while NUC is a corporate affair SLS coronation is a private affair. And by the way the nation mourned for 3 days, what else do you want. With respect to the victims, we are not going to mourn forever. Sh.it happens and life continues. So, OP get a life and stop spreading hate.

I sincerely wonder how people think,Sanusi is a chap i have a high sense of regard for, but this coronation thing has dented my respect for him.It shows a great sense of insensitivity, irresponsibility and stupidity on his part.May God forgive him for not showing the slightest respect for the departed souls of atleast his staff who toiled day in and day out to make him the "SUPER GOVERNOR" that he thinks he is.

Eight staff from the same company dies together on official assignment for that company. It is almost as if eight members die from the same family on the same day and yet the head of the house goes ahead with a planned wedding the following day.

This is the height of insensitivity. Eight dead bodies is not just a number and to think that this same Sanusi goes around the north giving donations for "humanitarian reasons" yet he cannot show empathy for members of his own CBN family.

A tragedy should always be treated as a tragedy. This is an insult to the dead and their family, and an insult to the entire CBN family who are friends and colleagues of the departed.

Nigeria is a nation with diff voices from top to bottom. Great nations speak with one voice no mater who u are. They applaud the govt or individual when they do well so as to encourage them to do better. They rebuke them when they do bad to discourage others against such act. If u watch football, take a look at Fabrice Muanba's case. Bolton footbal club postponed thier matches to show simpathy despite d F.A wanted d matches played. Not that the guy was confirmed dead. But had d problem in active service for the club. Hope we get it right one day and stop judging pple as a southerner, northerner or eastherner. Blue is clear from Red

@ballabriggs In as much as i agree with you,i will also want you to know that if a yoruba man, hausa man or ibo man steals, all culture condemns it.That in my own way is MORALITY.What Sanusi did is wrong whether in hausa, ibo or yoruba culture.Morality is Morality.Whether absolute or relative. What Sanusi did is the insensitive nature of the ruling class towards its citizens.May God forgive them.

Pukkah:

Whichever way you look at it, the turbanning is a ceremony that could have been moved. Also, emotionally difficult times call for sobriety and lifting the hearts of the bereaved and not for the leader of the deceased to loudly indulge in 'postponeable' celebrations.

I cant agree the less with you.

Cant that event be postpone to a future date.

with a post like this, i think you are d dangerous one. Like someone mentioned, has Nigeria now been islamized? & did he have to donate millions & preach islamic banking b4 he was born a Prince? & how many govt & private agencies have reached out to the victims of the multiple disasters across the country? Very few. Even Mr. Jonathan, Ph.D(Questionable) is simply setting up panels upon commitees.

Better open your eyes and see clearly. One would think that by now, Nigerians should have removed the veil of sentiments (tribal & religious) when analysing personalities and issues.

Another person product of a failed education system that conjures up moronic assertions from thin air!

How does America speak with one voice?

How does UK speak with one voice?

How does Canada speak with one voice?

Moooron, you education is so poor you can conjure such idiotic statement without knowing every society has factions.
