A British woman teaching in a Sudanese school has been arrested by the Sudanese Police for allegedly 'Insulting the Prophet'.
This utterly ridiculous charge came about because she let her students name a teddy bear 'Mohammed'.

Why don't those brain-dead Sudanese simply wait for the Prophet to personally strike the infidel with a bolt of lightning as punishment for her sin, because if He is so all-knowing and all-powerful, then of course He shouldn't need a bunch of anal-retentive turban-headed morons to arrest anyone on his behalf ?

Rather than getting all worked up over a teddy bear named Mohamed, those cretinous buffoons would do better to begin worshipping that teddy bear since he bears the same name as their prophet, and could only have been so named due to the Hand of God.

Did any of you even READ the article at all?

The woman brought teddy bears to class and asked the children to vote the name they'd call the teddy bear. Most of the class (Muslims!) chose Mohammed. She didn't name he bear or force the name on the kids, they chose it for themselves.
Even her fellow muslim teachers confirm that she didn't mean a ny harm, so what's your stress?

As a teacher to a large extent she should be held responsible for the actions of her students especially when she was in a position to reject what the students preferred.

Funny enough, it is the same people that complain about posts exposing the mistakes or errors of the West that go about initiating threads like this with the sole aim of targeting a religion.

This is why I maintain that hypocrisy is high on this forum.

Well,Mr. Jakumo,Dont be too emotional,Muhammad is not all knowing and all powerful as you ascribe Jesus to be in christianity where you equate him with Almighty God.it is only Allah that is all knowing and Powerful,Stop posting Non-sense here.

Seun ,i totally disagree
Why do you generalise,
If don't stpid fools could name the teddy bear muhammad so what's the hell
It's the intention that matters and not action,
Why did they name the teddy bear Muhammad?
Was it to ridicule theProphet ? Answer is NO
So what the hell about muslims

And when last did i as a muslim turn against some one on this forum within the slightest provocation ?
We should try and understand things and not generalise wink

And i must tell you this,In Islam we are told not to abuse other religion as the same can be done to us so as not to cause confusion.
It is as simple. I think the Police are wrong for arresting her. She was not wrong atall.

It is astonishing that you'd forsake reason in your haste to throw feeble verbal jabs at your perceived opponents. This was a woman who got her class to actually Vote on something they wanted. it's not as if they named a dog mohammed, it's a teddy bear, a toy designed to be the object of love and fun.
Lots of people bear the name Mohammed, so she can be forgiven for allowing their choice to stand. It makes no impression on you that some of her muslim colleagues feel she shouldnt be held for any crime.

I started this thread talking about the absurdity of an action by the SUDANESE POLICE and not the entire body of muslims, and certainly not overtly condemning any religion. Why a lying scumbag like yourself seeks to drag me into the mud you currently occupy is beyond me.

Idiot.

It should be noted that the actions of an individual or a small group do not necessarily represent the beliefs of a particular religion, nor is that religion responsible for such actions.

this is preposterous, it should never happen in Africa! we kill and eat every animals that can be eaten. And in Nigeria we give names to our pets its that simple,
Re: British Woman Arrested In Sudan For Allegedly 'insulting The Prophet' by McKren(m): 12:35pm On Nov 27, 2007
A lot of boys on the streets answer Mohamed

So if the class voted for Mohamed why should the teacher know that it is not one of those names the kids hear on the streets they voted for

It is like being arrested for calling my dog "John" because there was a God's messenger called "John the baptist". It is senseless, babaric and absolutely shameful.
Re: British Woman Arrested In Sudan For Allegedly 'insulting The Prophet' by Seun(m): 12:36pm On Nov 27, 2007
Actually, being arrested is the least of her problems right now. She could be mobbed if she's released.

I heard about the news of her arrest and potential flogging on my way to work this morning and I shook my head. I guess a name, a simple name is now reserved for Islamic prophets only. Where are the muslim moderates? Where are the Human rights campaigners? Where is Robert Frisk?
Is Islam really the religion of peace they claim it is?

It should be noted that the actions of an individual or a small group do not necessarily represent the beliefs of a particular religion, nor is that religion responsible for such actions.

Unfortunately, the problem is those who are supposedly against this never speak up and so we are left to accept that this may be acceptable by all @mdSocks. Do not blame people for reacting but blame yourself and those of you who are against it and do not believe it is part of the particular religion for not speaking out against it and maybe coming to the woman's rescue.  Earlier in the month, it was the saudi arabia issue, then the others like Darfur, and now this and yet, all the so-called moderates are yet to step up to the plate and you expect the world to hold it's breath for you all to get a backbone and do something

If you really respect your belief as you claim you do, at least you will stand up for what is right. Stand up against those in your midst who are perpetrating all these so-called ills that are not accepted by the religion, not continually try to tell us what we should believe instead.

Turns out the children selected to name the teddy bear after one of their class mates. Sudan is not even under sharia law and we get this reaction. This is the same sudan that has hundreds of thousands of it's own citizens butchered over the years for meaningless reasons but we get this sort of uproar over naming a teddy bear mohammed??

Muslims regard women as being equivalent to, or even lower in status than pack animals, and that is why they try to depersonalise them under sweltering full-body masks, and that is why they work hard to deny them even the most basic human rights to education, medical care, freedom of movement and political representation.
Re: British Woman Arrested In Sudan For Allegedly 'insulting The Prophet' by RichyBlacK(m): 1:00am On Nov 28, 2007
From the article:

Colleagues of Gillian Gibbons, aged 54 from Liverpool, told Reuters they feared for her safety after receiving reports that young men had already started gathering outside the Khartoum police station where she was being held.
===
One Muslim teacher at Unity, who also has a child in Gibbons' class, said she had not found the project offensive. "I had no problem with it at all," the teacher said. "I know Gillian and she would never have meant it as an insult. I was just impressed that she got them to vote."

This shows that the real problem with those young men gathering outside to, most likely, murder the teacher is education. You see how the educated teacher brought her own judgment to bear on the issue, instead of blindly following the teachings of some angry and misguided imam.

Islam cannot sustain this level fragility - it will either learn to be more malleable or become fragmented - just like all brittle entities.

Large (by population) religions, like Christianity, have seen their share of continuous fragmentation over the centuries. My bet is that Islam WILL NOT be spared this fate.

Ah jakumo grin

You make me laugh

The rights and responsibilities of a woman are equal to those of a man but they are not necessarily identical with them. Equality and sameness are two quite different things

This is manifest in numerous verses of the Holy Quran.

"Their Lord responded to them: "I never fail to reward any worker among you for any work you do, be you MALE OR FEMALE, YOU ARE EQUAL TO ONE ANOTHER, "

Quran 3:195

Woman is recognized by Islam as a full and equal partner of man in the procreation of humankind. He is the father; she is the mother, and both are essential for life. Her role is not less vital than his. By this partnership she has an equal share in every aspect; she is entitled to equal rights; she undertakes equal responsibilities, and in her there are as many qualities and as much humanity as there are in her partner. To this equal partner- ship in the reproduction of human kind God says:

O mankind! Verily We have created your from a single (pair) of a male and a female,m and made you into nations and tribes that you may know each other, (Qur'an, 49:13; cf. 4:1).

The woman in Islam is given high regard; Allah said the Key to your paradise is in the tip of your mother's feet.

Jakumo and all, i think i ve cleared the air about Low regard for Women in Islam. Making them wear Hijab is to cover them from exposing their bodies.

wink
