orignal length is 20cm. So when load is 3N, new length is 23cm. Smple force-extension system. The kind used in spring balance

you're funny. i remembered solving this question 7years ago while i was preparing for ume. it's question number 11 of 1991 ume physics. it might interest you to know that i'm a graduate of mechanical engineering, and i'm absolutely sure of the answer (23cm). And questons like this doesn't require the use of a calculator, we regards it as straight to point questions in my field
