The Barbie Doll Goes Yoruba In This Traditional Fashion Shoot

London based Nigerian photographer, Obi Nwokedi recently did a Nigerian traditional wedding photo shoot featuring popular American fashion doll Barbie and her companion, Ken.

According to Nwokedi, the shoot took up to five months and was inspired by a black barbie photo shoot done by Italian Vogue. Check out some of the shots below.

Aahh...the world's most famous anatomically incorrect dolls. Does that mean yorubas are tiny down under? Lol. #NoHate

If this shoot took up to 5 months, then Obi Nwokedi is as jobless as ever. However, he displayed the liberal and open-minded nature of Igbos by using a Yoruba traditional theme instead of his own Igbo setting. The pictures are neither here nor there.

Take your anger out on Obi. I simply think the man is talented and very smart.
I like his business-mind. No need to tribalize his product.
