I installed an Anti-virus (Avast) yesterday and used it to scan my system but after shutting down it has refused to come up. After booting, it'll tell me to wait that it's "preparing to configure Windows, do not turn off your computer". This has been on for about 5hours now. Pls can someone tell me what to do? |

did you say 5 hours? I could have just risk the crash to shut mine down after 2 hrs of patiently waiting |

I use Avast and its fine. Maybe d software has virus |

Maybe its one of these pirated software because avast is a good antivirus. I hope you have resolve it now. |

The antivirus destroyed some of your windows files and it cannot reboot. You either do system restore or repair or totally reformat. If you cannot get someone around you who can assist you free of charge, go to the professionals. |

Preparing to configure windows  That sounds like a new install of Windows, are you you did not try installing windows and it did not go right? Avast cant scan and destroy windows boot files that's ridiculous.Here the two things must have happened, 1. you tried installing windows and it did not go right. Secondly which i suspect Windows updated itself and now its refusing to install windows update on restarting. This happens alot in windows. Just do what the other said boot into safe mode, then do a system restore. |
