DHL does not accept credit cards or personal checks for packages going to Nigeria. I personally confirmed

this and called DHL's 1-800 number. Their reason for not taking checks or credit cards is because they have

labelled Nigeria as a "HIGH RISK FRAUDULENT COUNTRY". Let us show them we do have economic power also.

This is another form of discrimination, we can not allow this.

Don't waste your time.
We have done this to ourselves. The leaders, EFCC and 419 folks do not speak well of Nigeria as a nation.
I think they've (DHL) done what is right for their business and customers.
Blame nobody, but ourselves.

As a business owner, there is something called business protocol. You do not get burnt twice, unless you're a fool.
The protocol also changes with time.
Therefore, I recommend to spend more of your time implementing better strategy to clean up our name all around the world, so that organizations like DHL can change their protocols to favor Nigerians.

EFCC for example feels that accomplishing their goals comes first, while Nigeria image as a country comes last.
Stupid retarded mentality.
In all circumstances, every action must be taken intelligently and professionally with absolutely special care for the image of our nation.
United States is very good at doing this; the image of their country comes first.
FYI: original 419 lives in United states; they implemented it and it will live forever in United states, but you don't see them running around asking London to prosecute an American criminal. This is called Flag protection.

I'm a Nigerian and I'm very, very extra careful doing business with Nigerians.

Do you blame me?

Why Blame DHL?? Most likely na experience teach them. I am not sure of your problem though. Have you tried walking into a UPS store and had your card denied cause of that ??

It is not discrimination if it is true. Nigeria, even to Nigerians is a High Risk Fraudulent Country. Every Nigerian Knows this and does everything to avoid falling victim. DHL is only doing same.

Blame IBB. He's legacy to Nigeria is the corruption we experience in the country today. This is IBB's addition to our Nigerian culture.

Now my introduction comes as the epilogue. Judas the son of Simon Iscariot one day saw a woman washing the Master’s feet with some expensive perfumed ointment. This guy immediately berated the woman and the Master, reminding He who knew poverty from birth, that that should be sold and given to the poor.

I wonder what other poor man is greater than the King, who though in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, emptying himself, taking the form of a slave, and being born in the likeness of men (Phil. 2:6-11) John the evangelist made a short remark there. He said that Judas did not say this because he liked the poor but because he was a THIEF; who while in charge of the Apostolic funds, used to help himself to it.

For Judas replace IBB. He feel that he needs power to help the poor. He contributed in sending so many Nigerian families to the garbage heap for their daily bread. He contributed in securing the uneviable title of the most corrupt nation on earth for Nigeria. 419 spread like bush fire in the harmattan, due to the conducive environment nurtured by his government.

One love BIGGY

IBB is the reason corruption is now part of our culture?? How old are you?? Cause even from back in the 70's, corruption had been a concern. WAI program was put in place to help curb the bribery and corruption crime in the country, long before IBB came in office. The soup had been on the fire way before IBB came to stir it. No need to focus on just that one. Consider even the present criminals like OBJ and the many other goons out there still alive and still sucking from our pockets.
Re: DHL Does Not Accept Credit Card Or Personal Check For Packages Going To Nigeria by BigB11(m): 6:53pm On Nov 29, 2007
It is written from the beginning:

Even if it doesn't rain in Enugu, it's IBB's fault.
And Nigeria will be forever stationary if we think this single individual is the reason why we are all severely retarded.

The man has been out of the picture for more than 10 years, folks.
Are we that dull?
Re: DHL Does Not Accept Credit Card Or Personal Check For Packages Going To Nigeria by BigB11(m): 7:02pm On Nov 29, 2007
I will rest my case if you guys can just point out a perfect president from anywhere around the world?

The name of our problem in Nigeria is Nigerians. We are not ready to accept the responsibility and work together as one.

A good example is getting training assistance from Britain:
The project has not even been implemented and folks are already crying as if they have a better altnative. What a shame and a retarded state of mind.

A 40 years old failure (Nigerian Police Department) should be kept the same? I don't get it!

Our problem will be solved as soon as we wake up from this deep sleep and recognise that IBB is not the problem; retarded way of mind and of doing things are the problem.

And what is stopping you from focusing on OBJ? My focus as far as this thread goes is IBB. Pure and simple. By the way corruption has been a concern from the start of the first republic. It was institutionalised under IBB. That and scam emails.

Big B1:

Yet you are so eager to blame the EFCC for not arresting all the people you consider crminals at once. IBB is still part of the problem because he's still invovled politically.

What exactly are you implying sir, that we should devise better means to veil the corruption that abounds? I thought the focus would be on checking corruption instead of whitewashing it. The issue about our image can only gain surefooting if the disturbing stain, that is corruption, is delt with.

The original poster is a fucking idiot. how does sound business sense from DHL translate into discrimination?

My friend ordered a phone from expansys UK with his valid credit card. the order was cancelled two days later. when he caled to complain, the guy there apologetically told him that 99% of credit card orders coming from nigeria to their site were fraudulent.
if na you, you go gree sell to naija again?

When you people go to cafes and see people with no shirts poring over ebay.com in cybercafes, accost them rather than come here and start pontificating.

We foolishly think the victims of 419 are only the white guys. When you've been held up in an airport for one hour simply because you're a Nigerian (I have - August 2007, schipol airport) and you've got a mastercard but you can't buy from any reputable shop online (i can't) then you'll see that innocent nigerians are also victims of this curse.

DHL is just being smart. u don't expect the company to continue accruing losses due to bad business activities in nigeria. it's not discrimination but business savvy. it would be discrimination if nigeria had the same corruption level as iceland.

Absolutely on point.

Could my people see the connection between this disgraceful drama and 419?

long live DHL.

here in england BA dont allow you pay by credit card online too. you have to go pay them cash in their office or agent.

the problem is that our people will pay and then the payment bounces when the journey have been made what are they supposed to do?

in september on my way to nigeria the guy by my side just about 5 mins to landing in lagos was buying mtn simcard on board and paying with a $100 bill. that to me was suspect 'cos he had told me he lived in naija and so must know he was going to pay almost 5x the cost for only one card. the poor woman refused saying it was company policy not to accept payment with $100 bills on nigeria flights. he was making noise you would think they just switched off his oxygen. i told the guy to keep quiet but he said we owe him a duty to fight BA along side him.

when i pointed to him that BA would naturally not expect people coming from england to be paying with dollars his excuse was that he could pay with any currency. he was blattantly going to pay with some dodgy money and pocket a good change

there is something wrong with the theif mentality most people have. how can you take what does not belong to you and you dont feel guilty?

whatever policy DHL makes against nigerians, they are right. they run a business not charity. we should put up with it

I always wonder if we are the only country in Africa that all these companies have all these sanctions against. But i tell you what, we have really proved oursleves . We can only hope the next generation of Nigerians will be different

It so sad , the image we have created for ourselves, i hope thing will improve though. But things don't look ok as it were now!!!

one could feel bad to be a Nigerian at times but we do not have another country. a lot is happening all over the worls right now that we are shutting ourselves OUT cos of our track record!!!

This is just a continuation of things that will continue to for a long time to come except we turn a new leaf.
Re: DHL Does Not Accept Credit Card Or Personal Check For Packages Going To Nigeria by Kobojunkie: 5:09pm On Feb 02, 2008
I am a Nigerian myself and even with my small business in Nigeria, I have had to deal with the Nigerian stigma most of these international companies know of and basically try to shield themselves from. Trying to put the blame on DHL, Paypal and all the other countries out there is ignorance. You need to yourself understand what the problem is in your country to realize that we do not give these companies any other choice but to do all they can to protect their business any way they can.

I do not expect them to lift their ban on Nigerian credit cards until we clean up our acts worldwide. Even the USPS customer service agents have heard all about problems of shipping to Nigeria that they advise you against it if they can. As soon as merchandise reaches Nigeria is it considered lost to them and in almost 9 out of 10 cases, they get complaints. Nigerian customs agents charge any amount they desire and not much is documented so you can imagine why even DHL and many companies out there like to make sure that they at least insure their business from all that as much as they can. I am sure Nigeria is not the only country on their watch list but the fact that we are on the list alone is despicable.
