Whats ur take on this bout on the 8th of December, both men are undefeated and its very difficult to call.
Usually i'lld support the brother man but Mayweather has been very mouthy, in his last fight he took the mick out of De la Hoya's heritage dressing up as a Mexican during his entry into the arena. I know boxing is all about having an attitude and puuting up a fronbt but Mayweather strikes me as an irritant.

My money's on Hatton, he's been quiet whilst getting himself in shape and i believe the quiet ones are to be feared.
Whatever happens sha, an unbeaten record will be going out the window thats for sure
Re: Hatton V Mayweather - Dec 8 by dinozzo(m): 12:14pm On Nov 30, 2007
now this is the fight I have been waiting for, I don't know much about the boxing stuff but something tells me Mayweather might just win this one. Some say Mayweather has had tougher opponents than Hatton in the past.
Re: Hatton V Mayweather - Dec 8 by tboy1(m): 2:41pm On Nov 30, 2007
My Money is on Hatton as well.I can't wait to see what Mayweather is going to say if he should lose this fight.
Re: Hatton V Mayweather - Dec 8 by akinalabi(m): 8:51pm On Dec 06, 2007
I'll love Hatton to win it . But Mayweather is
just a fantastic fighter. The finest in the world
at the moment. The way he outwitted Oscar De
La Hoya was just special.

My money is on Ricky Hatton at 6/4.

Cant wait!

And as expected Mayweather ended Hatton's unbeaten run. He is the best pound-for-pound boxer around. Floyd Mayweather is simply the best.
Re: Hatton V Mayweather - Dec 8 by davidif: 11:20am On Dec 10, 2007
Yes sirrrrrr, Floyd "pretty boy" Mayweather KO'd Hatton back to britain ha ha. Thus showing that he is the best pound for pound fighter ever. Forget Miguel Cotto, he hasn't fought anybody yet, yet he still looks suspect against inferior fighters.
Re: Hatton V Mayweather - Dec 8 by Teriba(m): 11:09am On Dec 11, 2007
One of the things I like about the Williams sisters is that they don`t just beat their opponents, but beat them comprehensively! That was what Mayweather did last weekend. But the reason his performance would rank as one of the best in the field of boxing is the way he conducted himself in victory. Most of you guys in the UK would have read about the character assassination that the British press engaged in prior to that fight. So, for Mayweather to outshine Hatton in every department of that bout and still conducted himself like that after the fight, simply completed a masterclass. Shame on BBC and what Robert Mugabe would describe as `all the imperialist media`.
Re: Hatton V Mayweather - Dec 8 by eldee(m): 11:34am On Dec 11, 2007
You blame BBC didn't u see what The Sun did to him
Re: Hatton V Mayweather - Dec 8 by chuckdee4(m): 11:49am On Dec 11, 2007
Either way the BBC and all the newspapers had a big hand in making Hatton and the novice boxing fans like myself think that Hatton could even stand toe to toe with Mayweather.
Just like their football team everyone believed he could do the business, but once again the English have to face reality and see that cos ur English don't mean ur the worlds best

Re: Hatton V Mayweather - Dec 8 by akinalabi(m): 12:21pm On Dec 11, 2007
The British media and the public knew Mayweather
was better. They were only trying to back their own
sports star which is a good thing.

It's only in Nigeria that we discard our own and
worship outsiders.

All the British bookmakers rated Mayweather
as favourite at even money while Hatton was only
6/4 to win.

Hatton is a light welterweight who had struggled
since he added some pounds to move to the welter
weight category.

The Brits are great in supporting their own even
when they know the opposition is better and I love
that.

@eldee,

How do you mean ?

@ Hero,

Nice one!

@chuckdee4,

What those media outlets were doing before that fight was meant to be a psychological game on Mayweather-but backfired in a spectacular way!

more like a psychological game on the british fans, mayweather dont live there so obviously he wont be following their news

do you guys really expect British media outlets to abandon their own? undecided

I wonder o. You know that is how we do
in Naija.

The Brits don't do that. Even when their own
is the worst, they still support and lift them
sky high.

Akin, its one thing supporting ur own but booing another countries national anthem is out of order.
Fair play the british would support a 10 yr old to beat Iron Mike but their behaviour can be very disgraceful.

In all the better man won, i don't too much about boxing but Mayweather sure has a reason to be arrogant

Talent remains a talent.

I dont think it can be bought neither could Excessive NOISE raise it.

A deserved win.

I agree about the booing. That was out of order.

I was actually talking about the pre match build up
that lasted months.

well i guess its only fair enough u support ur country even if they are the underdog
The way he got hyped though would have convinced a novice that Mayweather was d underdog
Re: Hatton V Mayweather - Dec 8 by marlet01(m): 2:41pm On Dec 11, 2007
There was no how Ricky Hatton would have defeated the "Pretty Boy" I wonder why Lennox Lewis would give such a fight to Hatton? Mayweather was the best and I think the win was deserved.
Re: Hatton V Mayweather - Dec 8 by BlackMamba(m): 10:09pm On Dec 11, 2007
Before the TKO Brits sang:

There's only one Ricky Hatton!
There's only one Ricky Hatton!
Walking along, singing a song,
Walking in a Hatton Wonderland!

After the TKO the song changed to:

There's only one Mayweather!
There's only one Mayweather!
He talks the talk and walks the walk
Walking to the money land!

akinalabi & Dis Guy,

I think it`s possible to support your own without trying to destroy the reputation of your opponent. And what sense does it make to build people up like that when you knew that defeat was inevitable? The Nigerian press does this better than any western press; they know how to find the proper balance between giving a patriotic support without investing in any illusion! Anyway, Mayweather had answered his critics the right way!
Re: Hatton V Mayweather - Dec 8 by cooljoe(m): 4:09pm On Dec 12, 2007
Mayweather is the best, simple.

Re: Hatton V Mayweather - Dec 8 by Teriba(m): 2:18pm On Dec 13, 2007
@ akinalabi,

The British media, both print and broadcast, did alot of that prior to that fight. You can check their coverage on-line, you will see what I`m talking about.

I followed the coverage from day one and I was
even present at the presentation in Manchester.

There was no personal attack on the person of
Mayweahther all through. Everyone knows he is
the best pound for pound boxer in the world and
that he is a hell of a fighter.

Look at the prices for the match. Mayweather was
the favourite. Those prices were set by Brits!

All they did was support their own even when they
knew he was the underdog.

And that is a good thing.

No personal attack on the "pretty boy".

@akinalabi,

So when they claimed that he had passed his sell-by date; that he was not expecting himself to beat Hatton, but merely fighting for the money. When he was portrayed as arrogant and materialistic loud-mouth that have no following in his own country as a result of his bad manners and so on, you are saying you did not hear this or you didn`t consider this as a personal attack ?
Re: Hatton V Mayweather - Dec 8 by akinalabi(m): 3:09pm On Dec 13, 2007
Teriba:

But he is.

Great American boxing commentators like Jim Gray,
Joe Tessitore, Max Kellerman and Teddy Atlas were
the first to call him those names.

But everyone knew he was a boxing genius.
Re: Hatton V Mayweather - Dec 8 by Teriba(m): 4:06pm On Dec 13, 2007
@ akinalabi

So was he already a boxing genius before the defeat of Hatton or after? Why is it that they are now focusing on his boxing rather than his short-comings ? My point is, his boxing should have been the talking-point all along!

Everyone knew he was a genius before and not
just after he had beaten Hatton.

Mayweather was the favourite and Hatton was
the underdog and that is why the British bookies
staked billions of pounds
on Mayweather to win.

There is usually a lot of non boxing talks before big
bouts like this and it is all part of the entertainment.

Out of the two camps, the Mayweather camp did
more talking
(note that I said camps) with
statements like Ricky Hatton should be happy enough
just to be on the same ring with Mayweather.

It can't be "boxing talk" all through. This is entertainment
and boxing talk only will be boring.

@akinalabi
The Brits don't do that. Even when their own
is the worst, they still support and lift them
sky high.

And see where that has gotten them, if there is one thing i like about my fellow nigerians its that there are not ethnocentric, they simply understand that they are just like everybody else; actors on the stage of humanity. Another thing admirable about our people is that we are self critical (wetin i bin dey think self) unlike the british who think they are better than everybody else, thank God there is no racism in naija, we welcome outsiders into our culture and try to make a good impression on them instead of segregating them or being xenophobic (have you ever seen a nigerian telling a foreigner to go back to his own country?) i know other people are but we should not lose our soul and humanity, or step down to that level.

Also, once again, Pretty Boy Floyd Mayweather is pound for pound the greatest boxer alive and you could make an arguement for him being the greatest of all time even if he doesn't fight a suspect Miguel Cotto.

Next up, Bernard "the ex-convict" Hopkins knocks out to Joey Calzaghe back to England ha ha ha grin grin grin .
