Michael Vick sees Eagles dynasty

The disaster that was the Eagles' 2011 "Dream Team" isn't scaring Michael Vick from incorporating an even bigger "grin" word to describe his team heading into the 2012 season. In an interview Tuesday with Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia, Vick said he believed this current squad can become a dynasty.

"When I look at our football team and what we have on paper, I think about when I was growing up and the great San Francisco 49er teams, the great Green Bay Packer teams, and the great Dallas Cowboy teams, how they just positioned themselves to compete and be one of the best teams out there," Vick said, one season after the Eagles finished a disappointing 8-8.

"I think we have a chance to be that. I think we have a chance to develop a dynasty."

Vick told Comcast SportsNet that he believes his teammates share the same sentiment.

"I think it's just a mindset for my organization on down to the players," he said in the interview. "We know we can do it. We know what we have, that's the great thing about it. We know what we have as a team, as an organization and what better position to be in than to know that you have an opportunity?" Quarterback Vince Young, who is no longer with the team, infamously dubbed the 2011 Eagles a "Dream Team" after an offseason spending spree that landed star cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, defensive end Jason Babin and defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins, among others.

This offseason, the Eagles concentrated on giving big-money extensions to players already on the roster, such as wide receiver DeSean Jackson, running back LeSean McCoy, and defensive end Trent Cole. They did add two-time Pro Bowl linebacker DeMeco Ryans in a trade with the Texans, but their free-agent signings weren't as splashy as in 2011.

Vick led the Eagles to a 10-6 record and an NFC East title in 2010, when he was named NFL Comeback Player of the Year. But he had injuries and inconsistent performances in 2011, during which he threw a career-worst 14 interceptions in just 13 games. He told Comcast SportsNet that he's determined to cut down on his turnovers this season. Vick said he believes the Eagles are in a "special place" now. Still, even though he wasn't afraid to talk about a dynasty, he admitted later in the interview that Philadelphia has to make the playoffs first.

"I think just getting to the postseason right now is our focus," he told Comcast SportsNet. "The Super Bowl is going to come if it's meant to happen. Some of the best teams have some of the best luck. Maybe we'll have some of that. I think our focus needs to be one game at a time, just getting into the postseason."

The Eagles open training camp next week. Vick is scheduled to report with the team's other quarterbacks and rookies Sunday.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

Rumors of Peyton Mannings demise seems to have been greatly exaggerated. Still didn't think my team's D did enough to stop him late! And then u had Big Ben who was solid even with no protection at all but picked the wrong time to throw a pick 6

RG III was the star of the weekend for me! I don't remember when last the Skins scored 40. Andrew Luck by contrast did not have his dream debut!

Suprised with the way Alex Smith picked apart the Packers too! Who said Randy Moss was done?

Then u have the Tebow-Sanchez experiment! Looks like its off to a good start but its the Bills they beat so its too early to get carried away

The highlights for me are: 49ers(offense and defense), RGIII, Adrian Peterson, Cutler+Brandon Marshall, Patriots' running game, and Peyton Manning...

NFC East still remains the toughest division - with Romo playing the way he's, Giants, the Skins with a capable QB in RGIII, and the talents on the Eagles' team.

RGIII was the star of the week for me! Going to the Superdome and playing the way he played in his first pro game

Also impressed with the way the Ravens slaughtered the Bengals. Even as a Steelers fan and Ravens hater u always tend to wonder how many Superbowls they woulda made with an elite QB

Jets fans wouldn't like this

When Jay Cutler is bad he can be really bad! 4 picks and 3 sacks!! Completing just 11 passes out of 27. Bawo u must be cringing wherever u are man. And worse star RB Matt Forte has copped an injury

Only Patriots fans rate Brady over Manning. Give Peyton Manning the Pittsburgh Steelers and we win the SB at least 4 times

Quote of the week
Packers defensive back Charles Woodson "Same old Jay. We don't need luck -- we just need to be in position. Jay will throw us the ball.

Vick showed again that he's a clutch player - I'm so happy right now...

Still can't believe Giants won the game against Buccaneers... Eli Manning is back again this season with his 4th quarter comeback, and he threw 510 yards.. That's ridiculous!!

RGIII just got his first interception.... sad
Re: A Thread For NFL Fanatics - Daily News/Results....Rep For Your Team by A40(m): 12:38am On Sep 17, 2012
Obrigado Mike Vick! He really stepped up tonight for a minute I thought that game was lost!
it has to be said tho that he is still not throwing the ball well but I guess it won't matter to Eagles fans

Some shocking losses this week! Cowboys losing to the Seahawks! The Patriots losing to the Cardinals, Saints losing again (I foresee them struggling a lot this season without Sean Payton)

RGIII was also on the losing side

Glad to see the Mighty Steelers beating the Jets! Big Ben was majestic tonight

By the way is it too early to welcome Alex Smith to the elite QB table?
Re: A Thread For NFL Fanatics - Daily News/Results....Rep For Your Team by A40(m): 11:59pm On Sep 20, 2012
Manning picked 3 times. His arm strength was also suspect so one has to wonder if last week's heroics was a one-off!

Eli in action tonight against another young and exciting QB Cam Newton
Re: A Thread For NFL Fanatics - Daily News/Results....Rep For Your Team by Nobody: 11:59pm On Sep 20, 2012
I don't think Alex Smith is an elite QB, Frank Gore and the 49ers' running game is taking the pressure off him... And his OFL is great compared to most of the other QBs in the NL...

Alex Smith and Joe Flacco are still 3rd tier QBs..

Maybe not elite but he is knocking the door as his passes without INT record is showing. Flacco I would not rate as high as Alex Smith right now
I'd like to see your list of 2nd tier QB's tho

First tier
Manning (when healthy)
Brees
Brady
Rodgers
Roethlisberger

2nd tier
Eli
Matt Ryan
Rivers
Smith
Romo

3rd tier

Vick
Flacco
Schaub
Stafford

So Eli and the Giants unleashed a beatdown on the Panthers. It wasn't a pretty sight at all

The Mighty Steelers vs Raiders! We should win this although I'm worried about Heath Miller,James Harrison and Troy Palomalu missing practice

3 interesting games this weekend
Chargers vs Falcons (should be a high scoring affair with two of the best QB's in the game and very generous defences as well)

Broncos vs Texans (Expect the Texans solid D to give Peyton Manning a work out)

And the star game and repeat of last season's AFC championship game

Ravens vs Patriots (Huge huge game! Both teams coming of losses and would want to make a statement! The Ravens in particular must still be hurting from that narrow loss cos it was a game they could easily have won
Re: A Thread For NFL Fanatics - Daily News/Results....Rep For Your Team by A40(m): 11:49pm On Sep 23, 2012
Wow! What a week! 3 games went into OT!

The Saints lost again! This off-season drama must really have hurt them. Who says they won't miss Sean Peyton?

RGIII and Andrew Luck lose again

3 TD's from Big Ben
Re: A Thread For NFL Fanatics - Daily News/Results....Rep For Your Team by A40(m): 11:51am On Sep 24, 2012
What a comeback by the Raiders or should I say what a meltdown by the Steelers last night! No James Harrison or Troy Palomalu but I think its getting clearer now that our D aint as good as its rated

Huge meltdown again by the Patriots last night or should I say come back by the Ravens how they bled that lead in 6 minutes I would never know. Nuff respect to the guy who lost his brother the previous night and still came on to score 2 TD's how do you even get the stomach to do that after such tragedy?? Flacco was also in the beast mode! Maybe he read my disses
Re: A Thread For NFL Fanatics - Daily News/Results....Rep For Your Team by Roland17(m): 4:38pm On Sep 25, 2012
The level of disgust i feel right now after watching last nights game between the Packers and The Seahawks is indescribable, it has left a very sour taste in my tongue, this replacement officials would ruin this game before it can be salvage.

Roger Goodell should hide his face in shame for letting this lock out with the real officials continue.

Rule 8, section 1, article 3, item 5 of the NFL rule book clearly states

"If a pass is caught simultaneously by two eligible opponents, and both retain it, the ball belongs to the passers. It is not a simultaneous catch if a player gains control first and an opponent subsequently gains joint control," the rule states.

This clearly exposes the weakness with that touch down call, Jennings had full control of the ball with both hands in his chest, yet that stupid white replacement official who was clearly far away from the end zone signaled a touch down, while the other signaled an interception but they went on with the touch down call, i feel so frustrated right now, cos this could have a huge consequence on our season, 1 in 2 right now.
Re: A Thread For NFL Fanatics - Daily News/Results....Rep For Your Team by A40(m): 7:04pm On Sep 26, 2012
Lol! Goodell is a self-righteous prick! Officiating this week has been at its lowest ebb! I can count at least 5 games this week with ridiculous calls! Starting with Redskins vs Bengals and Ravens vs Pats
Same way he poorly handled the Saints Bountygate issue handing obnoxious penalties without sufficient evidence
