Am in a dilemma at the moment, i called it quits with my boyfriend since then he has been crying and begging me to come back. I left him because, i felt i wasnt allowing him to progress. He graduated a long time ago,yet even his younger brother has gone for service, and he hasnt ,and his name came out in this batch b that were just sworn in last week,but he missed it. I just felt i had to let him go so dat he can stand on his feet and move on and excel in life. Right now i dont knw if my decisions were the right one, cos he said life will nt be complete witout his best friend,(me). Pls i need mature advise pls |

He will be alright, nothing can happen. And if he goes ahead to do it then the world just rid itself of a loser and weak person. Don't feel bad, don't date out of pity.The guy is a f*ool, and should better focus his suicide ability on something productive.Someone that can miss nysc orientation upon all the setbacks is not ready for life anyway.  |

You've already made a good decision by letting him be,so that he can progress in life. If at all you'll go back to him,please dont do so because of his promise to comit a suicide. The guy is frustrated, it's not easy being him; no good job, no money, Jeez. It took me 3 years before I went for service; my family were the only people there for me. After reading,I got the impression that you prolly made up your mind, Personally,I'll be the last one to advice anyone to stay with someone out of pity When they obviously do not want to. However,I feel compelled to ask a simple question,what are friends for? Be truthful,if this guy had a good job and all the perks that go with it, Would you be contemplating this option? Is our loyalty and love for our friends only limited to when life is rosy with them,but When things turn awry,we turn tail and run! Really,with friends like that who needs enemies?! Friendly enemies!!! You can choose to dump this guy at his hour of need,but God will raise someone for him. Someone said sometimes we miss our opportunities in life because they don't come packaged the way we expect. It is very important whenever someone starts to sound suicidal that we take such person serious. I was among persons that advised a young man who threatened suicide out of frustration admist insult by majority of persons who commented on the status. Two/ three weeks later, he committed suicide! So in this case, lady, it is not time to turn ur back on ur friend, u must support and encourage and talk him into discovering himself. OP,The thing is,you said so your self that you felt you were hindering his life" of which you still haven't explained to any one HOW,and WHY?...I think you've found someone already that possesses what your desires are and you give excuses for dumping him as to wanting to allow him progress in life because of his setbacks(you feel you caused).I mean, what does that even mean? I'm not saying you should be with him out of pity but if you wanna break up with him let it be on a coherent and rational reason(like you don't love him anymore),otherwise you have skeletons in your cupboard,and to think this is the time he actually needs you more than anything else as a companion and someone to confide in.....you're talking break up! How can a lady come and say some unclear things like this and some are busy cursing down the said boyfriend. Poster How are you hindering him Sweetie? Why is he not taking his youth service serious so that he can finish with it and get on with his life or did he get involved in other business? If he is your friend why are you not encouraging him on this area? There seems to be a lot you are not saying here, we can't even start advising you to look deeper through him that things may turn out right in the future because you didn't give a clear picture of things. Your post is hazy and not very clear, the most important thing that I can say to you now is that some people that threaten suicide sometimes go ahead with it. You don't want to have him die on your head, Do you? Better find a way to calm him down, you can seek a mature person close to both of you to intervene so that you can all calm him down and walk through your problems whether you are staying together or leaving him. If you are leaving him, he is your friend---you should help him get through it all. |
