Picture below is a scene from the film adaptation of Chimamanda Adichie's "Half Of A Yellow Sun" http://www.halfofayellowsun.com/

I am so excited and can't wait to see this movie! It will be released in 2013.

Synopsis
A drama that brings together the lives of four people during the struggle to establish an independent republic in Nigeria.
Billed as an epic love story, the movie weaves together the lives of four people swept up in the turbulence of war and centers on Olanna (Newton) and Kainene (Rose), glamorous twins from a wealthy Nigerian family.
Returning to a privileged city life in newly independent 1960s Nigeria after their expensive English education, Olanna shocks her family by going to live with her lover in the dusty university town of Nsukka, and Kainene turns out to be a successful businesswoman when she takes over the family interests -- and surprises herself when she falls in love with Richard (Mawle), an English writer.
They both become embroiled in the Nigerian civil war.
The film will play out to original music by Nigerian songwriter Cobhams Asuquo and singer-songwriter Keziah Jones.

MOVIE SYNOPSIS

Brilliant Cancer specialist Dr. Michael Durant is emotionally troubled, wrestling with the traumatic loss of his 10 year old daughter from Cancer. Immersing himself in his work in the hospital, away from his wife who blames him for their child’s death, he forms an unlikely bond with a sick, loving, but rambunctious seven year old boy Sam, the son of a rich Jewish couple who are major contributors to the Hospital’s Cancer Research Fund.

Unfortunately, Sam’s health deteriorates drastically, and soon, he slips into a coma, with only a few days to live. Dr. Durant becomes desperate, willing to risk anything to save the child’s life. A surreptitious Nigerian Nurse convinces him to seek the help of Dr. Bello, an uncertified Nigerian Doctor, known in the Brooklyn-African underground as a miracle worker. Dr. Bello, an introvert with a controversial past, secretly visits the child at night and administers a strange African potion, replete with incantations and by the next morning, miraculously, the child begins to recover, the Cancer speeding into remission.

The Hospital Medical Board immediately orders an investigation and soon the secret is revealed and Dr. Durant is suspended. Dr. Bello is arrested and charged with medical malpractice. Dr. Durant soon falls into depression after his wife leaves him. Meanwhile, Dr. Bello has fallen critically ill in jail and can only be saved by the ingestion of the same potion that can only be found in the mysterious “Garden of Life,” nestled on the peak of Nigeria’s sky mountains.

and much more.

Ps: these are the kinda of topics we want on frontpage..... I wonder why villains should be used as mods....I'm sure if it is one thread of avatar or Ben10, it will hit frontpage within few hours.
For Christ sake, we don't need negativity forum again since CNN, aljazeera etc has made it a duty for them to promote negativity in africa. So must a nigerian forum also be for the same purpose? This is a public forum in which any stranger/foreigner can bump into unintentionally...and is it nice to create a bad impression about our country? It will only confirm the half truth half lies they have been listening to on foreign stations and sites. Incase we don't know, most whites think Africa is a planet of 'Apes' and 'cannibals'. And we Africans(especially nigerians) are not helping matters by behaving Stu/pidly! Our inferiority complex hås destroyed us to this present state......worshipping the whites and making them and their countries look perfect. I'm tired of all these, Africans please let's change our mentality.

Speedyboi, I feel you smiley
Besides Last Flight to Abuja, the others are new to me. Thanks for sharing I will look them up now!

Another one I am looking forward to is Lions of 76 directed by Izu Ojukwu. It is still being shot so I don't know when it releases but I'm so looking forward to it. The movie website has no info besides "coming soon" and the pics attached.
The movie is set around the 1976 Nigerian coup, and it features Ramsey Nouah, Chidi Mokeme, and Rita Dominic. Ramsey Nouah and Chidi Mokeme both play army officers in the movie.

Ramsey Nouah's character did this to Suzzy (Rita Dominic's character). Choi! grin

Hmmm. . . So Genevieve is playing Mrs Adebayo? cool

Mrs Adebayo was portrayed as a very knowledgeable and deep woman in the book and I'm not sure Genny can pull it off.

Anyhow sha, make I wait and see how she go re-enact the part in the book when Mrs Adebayo & Olanna met and Mrs Adebayo told Olanna she was ''illogically pretty''. Kai, see word. .till today I nor know whether na diss or na compliment grin

Surely, that part won't be cut off from the film undecided

I'm sure this film will be good! Cos izu ojukwu is also one of my best producers. I watch some of his productions few years back. Like cindy's note and white waters ....and they are very interesting. Infact, I still have cindy's note in my stash.

Meanwhile, I'm surprised this thread didn't make frontpage. Now don't be surprised when you see my new approach to nl mods.
Well lemme hint you; I have collated a reasonable amount of heavy curses that.lols
Next time they put anything like avatar, subtitle errors or anything naija dissing....I will jst copy and paste the curse......sounds stupid, right? Lol...yea , I know but I don't mind....I must change them by fire by force.....imagine, we call something a nigerian forum.....I have not seen on frontpage an article dedicated to a certain practice among a tribe in nigeria just to promote our selves and share knowledge among nigerians who don't travel....bt day in day out na so so so tribal bashing we dey see...

Half a Yellow Sun might be the only exception. . .only because it isn't a Nollywood movie.
