Mamajama yur paza isss inzbolb in anoza sacandal again ohhh .

FORMER Inspector General of Police, Mr. Sunday Ehindero, and his former Commissioner of Police in charge of Budget, Mr. John Obaniyi, have been summoned by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over their alleged role in a N930 million arms scandal.

Nigerian Tribune gathered that Obaniyi, who is still facing a police disciplinary committee on the N21 million scandal that rocked the force in June, would appear before an ICPC team of investigators tomorrow.

Nigerian Tribune gathered that in June 2006, Vice President Goodluck Jonathan, then Bayelsa State governor, released N930 million to the force to purchase arms and ammunitions for the Niger-Delta crisis.

The source revealed that the release of the funds followed a request from the then Inspector General of Police, Ehindero, to the Bayelsa State government that they were short of arms and ammunition to tackle the crime situation in the area.

Police sources disclosed that the Bayelsa State government then released the N930 million through the former Bayelsa State Police Commissioner, now AIG Hafiz Ringim.

However, the police source said instead of purchasing the arms and ammunition, the money was transferred to the erstwhile Commissioner of Police in charge of budget, Obaniyi, who then opened a fixed deposit account with the money for six months and collected an interest of N40 million.

Nigerian Tribune further gathered that the money was eventually moved from the account in December 2006 for the purpose of purchasing the arms and ammunition.

However, eyebrows were raised in the police circles when it was discovered that up till now, no one knows whether the arms have been purchased or not.

N40M interest for doing nothing other than being a corrupt police officer?

What is stopping them from sending this Obaniyi man to jail? How many scams are we waiting to be traced to him before he is jailed?
