“Gboyega, cool down. I am talking to you as an elder and whatever we see sitting down you young people can’t see it even standing”, uncle Yomi interjected.
“Uncle, is that how we are going to live this life in this family, i send money and my younger ones squander it thinking they have a brother that have a money factory abroad. I sweat for my money oo!” Bro Gboye answered back.
The conversation went back and forth until bro Gboye concluded that he would take one child from each of his father’s other wives abroad so they too can fend for their own section of the family. With that, uncle yomi seemed to have calmed down obviously acquiescing to the decision and nodding his head in agreement.
I walked over to the centre table and began to clear the plates of peppered fried meat that uncle Yomi had demolished with some bottles of big stout. He picked on his yellow teeth with the toothpick i gave him and brother Gboye just sat reclined on his favourite chair in front of the 60 inch plasma TV.
Uncle Yomi stood up and made a point of dragging his feet to the door, brother gboye who was deep in thoughts didn’t notice when uncle Yomi stood up and was planning to leave till he heard him spoke.
“Gboyega! am on my way now, you know i need to get to my shop before those boys steal my money since we barely have customers these days and my kids need to feed” said uncle Yomi.
“Okay, wait a minute! Let me get you transport fare”. He walked into his room and came back with a bundle of five hundred naira notes in his hand. “Uncle take this twenty thousand naira and greet your wife and kids for me”.
“Ahhh! Gboyega God will bless you, omo daada! Your enemies will all drop dead”, uncle Yomi said grinning like an old squirrel.
“Amen! Uncle Yomi....bye bye”,
“Bye bye my good son, God bless you”, uncle Yomi replied.

The following week brother Gboye travelled back to the United States and began preparing travel papers for Tosin the first son of the second wife to go over to Germany and barely five months after, Muyi the third wife’s son was approved visa to Spain. He began working on the papers of the fourth wife’s son Ojo to go to Germany and join Tosin. Ojo was the reserved and intelligent one amongst all iya Biliki’s three kids. Ojo was refused schengen visa thrice and UK visa twice. Bro Gboye was perplexed as to why this was happening to Ojo as every other person’s papers were approved at the first application. He called Uncle Deji, his long time friend who had just relocated back to Nigeria after spending 30years in Germany.
“Deji, I don’t know what is happening with Ojo’s case o! It took less than 15months to get Tosin and Muyi’s papers through and they are both in Europe now” Bro Gboye lamented on the phone. “Sebi na your place Tosin even stayed for his first few months before we were able to arrange a place for him?” “Abi Ojo case wan become guguru idi esu oo!”
“Shiezie! You mean Ojo was refused again?” “You know since I returned, I have been trying to settle down, I thought since you said you would send him to UK, I don removed my mind from there”
“O boy! I tire ooo! Iya Biliki don go tell the whole world say i no wan take her pikin come abroad!”
“That woman no go go siddon for somewhere?” Uncle Deji was getting upset.
“All the money you have spent on papers and visa application, how much she contribute?”
“Shiezie! Boy, na you dey listen”
“Better bone her side!” “After all, you have tried for two other ones, so nobody can say you were just scoping them with lies that you would help the kids leave this country”
Uncle Deji was always a comic relief whenever he was around. He had the funniest and the weirdest stories about his escapades abroad and the fruit of it was 3 kids from different woman and from three different races; he said he is the perfect man as he had his kids to show that he is not partial to any race. Funny enough, he does not have any woman in his house,
“Mi o le je ki awon obirin ti ko ba mi je iya, come chop my money”

The irony of it all was that he was as lonely as a forgotten pillar and failed to admit for there was no woman in his house or he being in a relationship only the regular strings of one night stands.
“This your proverb strong o” Gboye replied.
“What did you expect, some kind situation go make you go local.
“Shiezie bro, I think you should just make him in charge of all your affairs in naija so that he can also fend for himself and his people, then we see how it goes from there like the house you are building plus the cars you wanna ship to that dealer”
“That one make sense oh! But I will think about it”, Gboye answered.
“Shiezie men! make you dey there dey think the matter cos for me i get some kpomo matters that has to be addressed really long”, Deji replied
“Chai, you no wan settle down”, Gboye chided smiling knowingly.
“See black pot calling kettle black, you wey dey do your own undercover...no worry one day your ashiri go soon tu and the world go see you as i know you”
“Anyway, see ya boy” Deji said bringing the conversation to an end
“Bye”, Gboye said laughing and the phone line went dead.

Teni walked about in Ojo’s one room apartment panting angrily from Ojo’s continued hesitation in doing the deed. He stood akimbo in front of Ojo who sat face down staring at no specific point on the faded rug on the floor. Teni had envisioned how he was going to party with Kemi and Tara in the newest nite club in town making sure that everyone knew they have arrived. He wasn’t going to let anyone cramp his style now that he was close to achieving one of his dreams; Ojo had to have a conscience attack now but he didn’t have an attack when they spent the first round of money his Brother sent. His irritation grew like bile from him stomach and he sincerely felt like bashing him on the head with a pestle.
He had known Ojo since childhood and he has always being this self-righteous quiet guy and he was branded the crazy and naughty one. I guess that was why the relationship lasted this long but at this point Ojo’s face looked like the devil to him who must be defeated.
“Ojo stop thinking too much about this, didn’t you enjoy all the outings and the babes I arranged for you?” Teni sounded convincing.
“Even the guys now call you sir or big boy after all this while that we have been considered underdogs now looked at us”.
“Opportunity comes but ones and life is too short, na ones man dey die o! you gats to choose your part o”, Teni chided.
“Oooooooh Ten ten! Am still kinda jittery about the money we spent and now you are still telling me to continue, how do I pay or make up for the one I spent”, Ojo asked shaking his leg uncomfortably in hesitation.
“Ojo calm down, abi he is still sending cars then you can offset the ones you’ve spent from the gain you make from those”
“Trust me guy! you need to loosen up and enjoy this life or train go leave you go after all your brothers they abroad dey flex, dem leave you to do the omo ise work”,
“How you go dey talk like that Ten ten!”, Ojo fired back feigning an angry look.
“Dey dere, dey fall your hand make all the small boys way we wear napkin pant use us sweep street, even bible talk say sharp men taketh by force”, answered Teni.
“Ah ah teni, this one na bible remix o”,
“The world sef done turn remix, you go ahead and make arrangement make I call the girls to prep up”, as Teni scurried outside leaving Ojo by himself.
