I like the fact that you did calculations. Now the logic is this. Everything the FG gets, it shares with all the states with the ratio you have already written here. At the end using your calculation, FG will now have a share that is 1.4% per state assuming they were to use the amount to each state equally. NOte that your calculation is wrong because you divided by 36 instead of 37. Then do not forget that the states themselves are supposed to generate IGR. This IGR is for each state alone. So a state are supposed to have (0.7+0.028)% + IGR. So the OP's question is valid, what do they do with their own share? Do not forget, federal workers earn more than state workers. So from the FG's 1.4% per state, a lot of it goes into managing their federal infrastructures. A lot of it goes into Trunk A roads, rail and many more including stealing (which the states do even more). So once again the OP's question is valid, what do the states do with their own share? I remember when Jonathan was in power, every single thing was blamed on him by tinubu. Everything is interwoven, if states are functioning well then economic activities will continue and things will be better. Nigeria of now is not good to those whose income has not increased whereas those with increased income are not complaining. 1 Like |

boxypane: Bruh, it's amusing to see. It's like the state governments used juju on Nigerians. Lagos state is there for all to see. No week goes by without a handful of positive news from there. Yes, Lagos is richer than other states by far, but that doesn't stop other states from thinking out of the box to drive their economy and generate revenue. For most states the cycle is like this: FAAC > State Government > Use FAAC to pay salary > Wait for the next FAAC. Little wonder Nigerians leave these redundant states behind to run to Lagos, Port Harcourt, Kaduna, Kano, Abuja to make a living. The simplest way states can increase revenue is by boosting agriculture because we are blessed with massive arable land; but nada, they still won't get to work. 1 Like |

Yes we don't pay taxis in dollars, but the fuel used in running those taxis is purchased in dollars, the farmer who cultivates crops uses that medium to transport his goods to the market, that farmer also .has needs outside ugwu or pepper that he plants n sells. He needs to buy rice, beans, sugar n flour, are these commodities cheap? He also needs to buy a phone to communicate with his family, phone is imported using dollar... Price of phone isn't increased but due to tinubulisation of the economy, we r now thinking prices of phone has increased in the foreign market. This is what.ripple effect does in economy... Next time if u want to be making jokes about Nigerians, start with Ur dad. 2 Likes 1 Share |

From my observation, everyone disagreeing with the OP just want to blame Tinubu. They don't care that the state governments aren't working. We are not ready. Lol. You can blame Tinubu/FG and still hold your governors accountable - it's not that hard. For them, it's better that Nigeria is destroyed beyond repair so they can do the victory lap dance because their failure Irupete Obi lost deservingly. Lol I'm confident Asiwaj Bola Ahmed Tinubu will get things right. He has made the hardest decisions needed to steer the economy of this country aright. The political will is there. I'm certain we will start getting positive results of his policies by next year. Then Irupete Obi go chop his second breakfast come 2027. You lots and jump and nack your heads on the iroko tree. 1 Like |

boxypane: Can you imagine?! Just to collect money and pay workers is an Herculean task for them. Zero policies, zero initiatives, zero wealth creation, nothing! Nigeria! One fact we Nigerians always forget is that Lagos, Kaduna, Kano, Rivers states could have decided to become redundant like others, if they so chose to. |

Allocations: all the country share and share the proceeds from resources in one part of the country; while the rest of the country keep and utilise proceeds from their own sides of the country. Boomerang from the evil political system is what Nigeria now has from the uncontrolled inflation hammering everyone in Nigeria. Multi ethnic countries are not run on unitary government system. 1 Like |

even in december, each senator and house of reps members got 75m and 60m respectively from the president to share to their constituencies so as to cushion the effects of subsidy removal but sadly, they pocketed the money. the unsuspecting masses direct their voices/anger to the federal govt. the governors and house of assembly members need to be made accountable/responsible to the people. |

9jatriot:The IGR is skewed. If you're going to go by IGR then Lagos has the biggest thieves in govt. Secondly, take a look at the 5bn palliatives shared to states by FG. No accountability for it and it was disbursed by same FG. If FG is not interested in asking govs what they did with money given to them from FG, why should such burdens be placed on citizens? I noticed also that you ignored the effect of dollar denominated returns that's exclusively in the hands of FG 1 Like |
