Why not just do direct entry

First class in bio chemistry can easily get you to second year med-sug

A PhD in biomedical sciences or medicinal chemistry could have been okay. Also, she could have done the JAMB writing when she was either a first year or second or even third year Chemistry student at UNIZIK. Her choice nevertheless.

BTW, what was her final CGPA as a first graduate?

wetyn you wan use the final CGPA do again?

What is SAT?
Gerrard59:

She has a first class in Chemistry. What she would have done is to write SAT, and score very high then apply to universities in the US that would admit her to study a life science course (scholarships are plentiful). Upon graduation, she can proceed to study to become a medical doctor. Taking a loan to study medicine in the US is a better option than studying it in Nigeria (ASUU + internal issues). If she now decides to later relocate to the US after her studies at UNIZIK, that makes her current decision even more foolish because she would spend a WHOLE LOT and have wasted years she would have used in acclimatising in the US.

To analyse her academic profile. She had a JAMB score of 324 and graduated with a first class in Chemistry. I am interested in her first JAMB score and her WASSCE grades. This is to understand where she is coming from and where she is going.

U obviously don't understand how admission works

In UNN u need 310 minimum
Those that use 270 are from educationally less developed states don't know of your school but UNN admission is 98 % merit

Oga, go and rest. If UNN VC candidates scored below 250 marks, they all would be given medicine. This has been happening for donkey years. The 310 cut off mark is just to allow few candidates that don't have connection but scored 310 and above to gain admission.
If the school is to admit 50 students into medicine, they would look at the number of candidates who choose their school and scored 310 and above before they set 310 as medicine cut off mark. The total number may not exceed 20 candidates at most including the ELDS, the remaining 30 candidates would get admission based on slots given to the school VIPs

She's not even clever by half.

Why not do a transfer or take DE, most medical school will gladly accept you.

She probably did that and it didn’t work or currently doing that. DE and First year UTME come out at different times. See ya mouth! Fear nor catch to say best graduate first class is not intelligent. Any thing you can think about, she has thought about it. Even thought about traveling abroad. Be sure she has her reason which does not include lack of intelligence

Had many DE students ( via Alevels, bsc holders in micro, botany, zoo who joined us in 200level.). But it comeswith a hefty price..the best age to enter medical school is 17 to 22 any other age hmm u will need to encourage yourself alot especially in Nigeria cos having responsibility and studying medicine no dey too work like that.

But why not direct entry? This means she will start all over again. Our leaders make things difficult for us in this country.

They should allow her to start at 300 level because her degree in Chemistry must have covered all the prerequisite for the degree in medicine.

The Jamb route is best for her..

That direct entry is 50/50 and judging from the fact she is a first class chemist, they will likely deny her direct entry route and advise her to come pick a lecturing Job in chemistry..

Better she moved to start on a fresh note.

You are one of the few persons making sense on this thread.

Those shouting direct entry don't know Chemistry faculty is quite far from Medicine's.

She'd be denied admission in most schools irrespective of her Post De score/first class grade had she not taken the UTME route.

As for dominating medical school, it's not a certainty.

Because a 16 year old boy or girl might end up being the one dominating in a class with masters degree holder, first class first degree holders and the likes.

I wish her all the best.
