Ojukwu had an Igbo spirit, he was a free man, free to make his own choices and life decisions.
He decided to run for Nigerian president for reasons best known to him, I am not a mind reader, I can only guess.
I think he ran for presidency because he wanted to inspire Ndiigbo, to show us the importance of unity, to show us the hypocrisy of Nigerians, who will accuse Ndiigbo of being tribalists, sentimental and still stuck in Biafra if we decide to vote for one of our own, but will also accuse us of being stupid, politically naive and incapable of uniting for a cause, if we decide to vote other Nigerians.

Thanks to Ojukwu running for presidency, we now know that even if Ndiigbo decided to vote for Buhari and against GEJ, the Odua-Arewa would have still made us villains for not voting GEJ.

Thanks to Ojukwu, sensible Biafrans now know that Ndiigbo can never please the Arewa-Odua, because they( Arewa-Odua) have created a political game in Nigeria, in which the Igbo must be made villains, irrespective of the path we take, we must end up as villains, we can never win in their eyes.
