It is very save for you to rear it but never made a mistake of putting your finger in it's mouth. What you are seeing there is like a padlock when you mistakenly put your finger there. You may need flat iron or knife to open the mouth to free your finger. I can't remember the name again. It is common in ekiti and ondo

You can keep it as a pet, only when you understand the personality of the bird, i do not know its traits, it could be a social bird, or it may mimic human sounds, So before you even keep the bird you have to know its traits, and i doubt it is safe for you to keep it at home, given your dad is not confortable with such.

It doesn't have much meat and they normally cut the head and insert it in a stick and look for opening in the wall above "adiro"( three chunks of clay molded in half circle shape that will hold cooking pot on fire) where they will insert the other side of the stick. I think they sell the head(with the long beak) after sometimes when it has become dry
