I would recommend you go to your pcp and get a urine culture to make sure you do not have an infection

Hi Doc,

Thanks for the great work service you are rendering.

Please I will like to know what the differnce is between a woman's normal boby discharge and infection discharge.
Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology by kathyekiti: 1:23am On Apr 28, 2008

After an evaluation of her thyroid, if everything is within normal limits. I would recommend a trial of clomid to induce ovulation however, once again, it doesn't matter if she ovulates but you are not around.

@tioluwa
One of the easiest differentiations is smell. Also other symptoms such as pelvic pain, bleeding or pain during sex could signal an infection. However, all this being said, you should see your gyn if you are suspicious of a vaginal discharge.

thanking You for you quick rreply
Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology by kathyekiti: 4:21am On May 04, 2008
@aladunni
No cause for alarm. As long as your period is less than 7 days, it is within normal limits
Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology by kathyekiti: 4:23am On May 04, 2008
@shalata
Since you are only 5 weeks pregnant, I am assuming that you have only had one bleeding episode. I think that it is mere coincidence that it coincided with the time of your former menses and I absolutely agree with the u/s to fully evaluate the pregnancy. Keep me posted and good luck

@Kathyekiti

Thanks for helping me last time. . The thing is, I went to my Doc for my regular check up, now is my Iron level is now normal. Do you by any chance know the reason why I'm having cramps in my pelvic (abdominal pain). I'm not sure why, but this cramps does not just last like 5 mins, it lasted for more than half an hour.

I could barely move out of the bed, I could not walk, yes, it was painful. The fact is, I was not on my period at that time. Does this cramp associate with blood level? This is not the first time it happened. cry cry

It was like I'm in labor. Worst part, I'm losing weight, which I should not be doing.

What food do I eat?:
Nigerian food and I mostly drink Vitamin water

Thanks, I went for check up last month. I'm not going there again just to pay $50 and get nothing done. He told me that I need to eat my food with iron and prescribed some medications for me, which I am not going to take lipsrsealed

I think this is more than my iron level.

Endometrosis? hmm, I'll look up on it and talk to him about it. thanks kiss

Dr kathy,

Thank you a lot for all your helpful advice you have lavished on our sisters God will surely reward and prosper you. Please isn't there simple dietary solution of raw and organic vegatables and fruits juice combinations with moderate nuts, clean water, clean air, sufficient rest/sleep and daily exercise without loading our body with drugs that can prevent, correct and or eliminate most of these problems?. Please advise. Thank you.

Amen!

I dnt like taking medications. Looking at them makes my stomach sick grin I only take motrin for my period, and that's all I can bare to take tongue
Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology by Rlst84sale(m): 7:50pm On May 04, 2008
Cure to most diseases lies in the right nutrition and life style.  Sometimes the side effect of medications causes more problem than the original problem. I have heard a doctor said that ordinary pain killer is toxic to the liver or kidney
Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology by Cadet(f): 8:07pm On May 04, 2008
You're right about that. That's why I prefer natural healing to artificial healing. Let the problem go without medications smiley

Hi Doc. K

I want to first thank you for the good work you are doing here may God bless you real good.

I have two friends now who suffered overian cyst, acutally one didn't know what was wrong with her untill she took in and was having serious pain when she got to the hospital the doc. said it was etopic preg. that the tube needs to be flushed or whatever but when she was opened up the doc. discovered cyst and had to remove the cyst, but the preg. which was 3wks couldn't stay. Now though she still feels pain from time to time at same lower abdomen but her worry has been how fast and easiy can she concieve, secondly whether her ovary was not affected.

The second person has also been married for more than a yr now and has not concieved since then, her complian has  been same overian cyst. last week she did a surgery though she was not opened up the cyst was just drained in a paticular way. But since after then she the pain still comes as if the the cyst is still there.
few days ago she called me that she was bleeding seriously but it was not supposed to be her period. though she went to her doc. she was only told to go home and rest that she needs enough rest.

Now they are worried that the surgery may have side effect or still affect their chances of getting pregnant.

So Doc. what do you think.
Re: Doctor In The House:Obstetrics And Gynecology by kathyekiti: 12:22am On May 07, 2008
@ prettyreal
Thank you for all your generous salutations and may God bless you as well

Now as for your friends, the first friend should take heart. The pain she is feeling might be related to the surgery which takes time to heal. Your second friend however, needs a gyn evaluation for infertility. This is considered after one year of unprotected sex without any type of pregnancy. Does she have regular periods?

Hi Kathy,

Thanks for being there for everyone on nairaland, may u never lack help when u need it.
I do experience heavy flow during my period, have a regular cycle of 27 days, no menstrual pains whatsoever. I feel so dizzy when i'm on, esp the 2-3 day cos i lose so much blood; i've gone to do utra sound cos the doc suspected fibroid but the scan result said everything was ok, no fibroid or anything like that. what could be the issue? my period last 4-6days with two days heavy flow sometimes.

regards, cherry

Thanx for your wishes and may u also never lack help. Another possibility is a condition known as adenomyosis. How old are you? Did they say anything about the size of your uterus?
