jedisco: @op take away the asha, it's not part of their name. The fact that the pre-order is exclusive to MTN only makes it a bad market for Nokia. Its like they are not yet ready to fit into the growing competition in the Smart phone segment of the economy. I can't imagine an unlocked phone/device to be tied to a single service provider (MTN) where there are others on the line. 1 Like |

mr.drizzy: Then where did your '..becos u wan buy fone mtscheew' come from? If you think you prefer a particular phone, then go on with it. You don't need to troll every other phone which is not your choice. Early released iPhone 5 may have had issues but have you ever wondered why it has one of the highest user rating much better than what you listed? Now to your spec trash, I'm still wondering what you use to gauge power and how those phones are more powerful than iPhone. The thing with most android users is that you are always looking at specs without understanding them. iPhone 5 has just about a 1.3GHz processor and 1GB of RAM but I'm still yet to see any android device that outperforms it. The best you can get is something comparable. If you still want more examples, I can go on and give you examples of devices with lower sized batteries or 5MP cameras doing better than those with larger sized batteries or 8MP cameras respectively. Or even 1GB RAM dual core devices performing better than 2GB quad core devices. So when next you want to compare specs, make sure you understand them and how they affect performance cos without that, they are useless. And FYI, I don't use an iPhone. |

mr.drizzy: At the last apple event in October, apple announced that there are currently 750,000 apps in the app store. Sometime after that google announced that they've reached 700,000. Some months prior to these, Microsoft announced that they've reached the 100,000 mark. |

luluosas: Tied to MTN means that MTN has the exclusive right to market the phones for 3 months. You subsequently will be able to buy them from different vendors after this period. Since the phones are not sim- or netlocked, it's actually no biggie. Buy from MTN and use it with the Network of your choice. |

Why am i not moved by all these? if you like, launch another 1 with mini pressing iron, all na effizy. mr.drizzy: You yourself have not be neutral. There is more than Google in the mobile world. Neither Google nor Apple are the Alpha and Omega. Igba kan nlo, igba kan nbo l'aiye yi o. If there is any OEM taking Android to new height, it has been Samsung. Not Motorola, not LG or the host of them. Samsung has brought a lot of the things we used to take for granted like hand writing recognition in the days of windows mobile and Palm OS. The iPhone phenomenal destroyed all that. Now, non of this finger friendly Smartphones allow for the use of stylus except the Note brand of Samsung. Despite all the finger friendliness of the modern displays, there are times I wished I could have my Stylus back. Anyway, let me just quit whining about the good old smartphone era, when we were a small gadget freaky elite. Now, every dick and harry has a smartphone. 1 Like |

Ilaje44:Well, that is not very true because, I for one, even though I love high tech technology but, I have 'never' use any form of smart phone, not that I cannot afford one (at least, there are less than N20,000 smart phone, no matter how low its specs may be) but, because they don't move me one bit. In as much as I am not complaining with the type or nature of phone I'm using, so, there is no big deal about smart whatever. |

why do u talk like specs matter. the real deal is what matters and trust me android has far more issues than even windows phone OS. and dnt go there cz i used all oses. The smoothest are ios and windows. Android even with its latest processor (quad) still lags as compared to dual core apple processors and snapdragon which work perfectly wt ios and windows. The only thing android is good at is customization and that about rounds up the argument. Specs are really nothing if u ask me...theyre just numbers...and to clarify issues, apple has about 700k apps and android struggles about 500k-600k. thats very accurate news. besides how many apps u wan use for phone. most of the apps on the play are duplicates. i need just 1 for a particular purpose. thats where peeps get it wrong. for me the lumia 920 beats all current phones in terms of evolution and tech...and no b by hearsay. there is more than enough proof mr.drizzy: |
Re: Nokia Launches Lumia 920/820 In Nigeria by Ilaje44(m): 12:35pm On Nov 27, 2012 |
luluosas: I dont that arguement count much really. Except you dont like MTN abd the fact that Nigeria as it is... There actually a big advantage of economy of scale provided by MTN that can not be adequately matched by any other vendor in Nigeria. MTN can buy cheaper due to volume and sell at a price advantage than any other provider. As they seem to be selling the phone unlocked, this would actually help to make it penetrate the market much better than let's say GLO. The price for the L920 is quite cheap compare to the price charged here where I live or even the UK. Only the L820 is much pricier than we have here. |
