I'll be leaving for Nigeria in three days for Christmas. Yes I'll be celebrating it with my family but I also plan on traveling around a bit so can someone advise me places to go in SE and SS. Something cultural would be nice.
Since my little sister and I are leaving at different days, I'll probably wait for her in Lagos before heading down therefore I welcome any suggestion for Lagos too.

The war museum in Umuahia, Abia state should be your first port of call. The museum houses ancient Igbo relics as well as ancient Igbo war equipments.
The Ibinu Ukpabi at Arochukwu, the great oracle that was feared by all in the old east.
Palace of the Eze Nri, here you will found documents and ancient Igbo chronicles of the Nri Kingship since 1000 years ago.
No 7 Park avenue Enugu. The secretariat of Ohanaeze Ndigbo is situated here Here, there is an abundant information about Ndigbo during the slavery era, Ndigbo during the pre-colonial times as well as the colonial times. For more on the Aba women's riot, the coal miners demonstration, the names of all the Igbo involved in building the railway terminus in PH and Enugu.
There are also the great monuments at Nsugbe, Akwete weaving centre, the birth place of King Jaja, the palace of ASAGBA of Asaba, the source of Imo River near Okigwe (stone), Iwa Oji Mbaise, Anara festival Isiala Mbano, Okonko festival, Umuderim, Isinweke (my part of Igboland).
more to come soon.
