lol...windows forms (mainly VB.NET) is the few first languages u can advice beginners to start with

I didn't start that way. My first experience was with Console applications [C++, then assembly(fasm)] wink. Guess it's a different path with .NET

netesy: just download and use the visual studio
then choose forms projects its just drag and drop

Haha were you sleeping when you wrote that ?
If the lazy person doesn't learn C# and he used the Visual Studio Drag and Drop at the end he would have a win forms application that would contain textboxes, images, buttons that's all - there would be NO functionality
for the functionality you MUST learn C# or Vb.net (which isn't advisable to learn btw)

No i was wide awake when he makes a form with no functionality he will be tempted to learned the language simple.
Ps.
.Net also include C++

Interesting, Am also in this category, everything i know today i learnt on my own and from people on nairaland and other forums. The only programmers i know are the ones on nairaland and few other online forums. Sometimes i really wish i can meet and work with some people here.

like i said earlier learning with ebooks are certainly better but sometimes they can get really boring. I remember when i started learning data structures and algorithms with an ebook, when i was done with insertion, bubble and selection sort, stack, queues and PQ it got really boring. I then found DS and ALGO lectures on youtube. I took the lectures for a month and somedays. I then went back to the books and it made more sense to me. Although individuals might differ, but the video tutorials really help...

True reading books (ebooks in PDF) can get really boring but taking a break, doing some practice and den coming back helps a lot though it slows learning time. I used to have this challenge until I found pluralsight. I was finding it difficult wrapping my head around concept of Reflection and Attributes in .NET but after using a video training material I was home with it. Haven't used ebooks in a while now just videos and documentation. Again ppl n ability differ but I believe what u see n hear makes learning easier n more fun

Ok.... Having read the 1st 3 pageS and d final page of this trend, i'm so turned on! High libido!! And RAUNCHY!!!

My intrest seams to rest in the bosom of C++ but i'd like 2 b sure. I want 2 be able to build a platform dat is similar to that usesd by banks 4 their acc management and possibly do more thngs of my own specifications. I also want to learn how the atm machines works and hw they are connected to this account platform and stuffs related to this sort of technology (NETWORKING to be succinct).

Xo do u thnk C++ is the perfect start 4 me?

However, the only thing i can skillfully do wit d systm is surf d net. Hence can i decern or understand C++ as a beginer?

In ur candid opinion, where should i start 4rm?

Well I wanted to learn c++ for embedded programing and robotics nd was advised to learn visual basic first so as to get used and familiar with the syntax and the rest, wen don wit dat learning c++ nd see would be much more easier since av met nd been familiar wit som syntax. Well these were the advise I got from a programer frnd. I don't know how viable it is. Need more advice from the house.

C++ is the perfect language to me
Re: I Want To Learn Programming. Which Language Should I Start With? by WhiZTiM(m): 2:58pm On Feb 15, 2013
@monkvirus...
You can learn C++ without prior programming knowledge... Just try and also learn about computer systems architecture, it will speed up ur learning.

C++ is so powerfull that you can write dare devil programs... Also, a programming bug can frustrate and fry you up.
...dnt worry, perfection can come later...

p.josh:
Am new to programming and planning on learning vb.net. Is it okay for a beginner to start with vb.net.
Please don't ignore
It. Depends on your level of understanding.
With my experience, I will advise you to start with HTML after which you move to CSS followed by Javascript before going into VB.net, you might not be familiar with some of the terms which will be used.
I downloaded lots of ebooks on virtually all programming languages but started with HTML5 to enable me become a vast professional.

I will say that your friend is an old C++ developer, because the newest version of C++ is simpler and easy to understand.
But it depends on what you told him.

I agree with you. Because the newest version of C++ is very easy to learn.
A friend of mine is now a profession C++ developer, learnt C++ when he knew nothing about a computer system.

I will advice those going into programming to start with HTML followed by CSS and any other scripting language most especially Javascript because it will open your eyes on what programming is all about.
Believe me you are going to enjoy it.
And please do not learn with outdated ebook.
Use the most recent ones.

HTML? a programming language?? Nahh... ...its a markup language just for simple text presentation by supported graphics Engines...

Though, I do not have any objection to anyone that wants to start html5... Cause a dedicated 2weeks is enough for an average person... Cause its like learning indices in Mathematics field

i dont know about the newest version of c++ but am guessing its not like vb
i know vb doesnt use braces, to start and end a class, method e.t.c you dont use braces to instantiate you dont have dim blah blah

c++ is similar to c,java,c#,javascript except vb
hope you get what i mean , syntax-tically
