Yeah!I agree,Delta, am really sorry. Just got pissed. Remember that I had asked one or two questions in the past and u simply told me off that someone else had to tell u to take it easy with me. I probably just got annoyed this time.

Tanx for the response and accept my unreserved apologies.

Tanx to all respondents.

It's all good. If u think my responses are/were rude, my apologies.

I just did my medical on June 4. Does anyone noe if an interview can still be required?
Re: Travelling To Canada by aydewale: 7:27pm On Jun 25, 2008
@ burnin:

Please could you kindly let me know what it took to get to that stage. I hear once you get to that stage, it is 100% sure u would get ur visa except you have some very terrible malady or sickness (like say HIV). No new interview.

Additionally, I hear it takes like a month after the medicals for you to get the visa.

Congratulations.

I would also be pleased if you could answer the following questions:

a. how long did it take the embassy to get back to u after ur initial application?

b. what verifications are u aware they made, like did the embassy call ur office or University? and

C. any other information.

Thank you and congrats once again.
Re: Travelling To Canada by burnin: 7:30pm On Jun 25, 2008
I applied on the 14th of April and received instructions for medical on the 3rd of June.
I am not really aware of any enquires that were made.

I doubt it. . .after medicals, if your results are good, u are probably good to go. The other thing that may hold u is ur tuition. They may have told u to make a payment to the school and get the school to fax the receipt to them. Make sure u do that. Goodluck.

BTW, which school/province are you relocating to? What's ur background?

York Schulich school of business is one of the top business schools in Canada. I hope u have a VERY VERY strong application (with a good GMAT score) otherwise u'd just be wasting ur time and application fee. Good luck!
Re: Travelling To Canada by aydewale: 1:35pm On Jul 02, 2008
I agree with Delta, additionally, I would suggest you choose one or two others, in order to brighten your chances. You also need to back whatever you do up with prayers and please be meticulous. Remember to also act fast and smart as even when you get your admission, by the grace of God, assuming its for January, you would need to apply to the Canadian Embassy by September.

I wish you all the best and may the good lord grant you favour.
Re: Travelling To Canada by Ezinwannem: 3:42pm On Jul 03, 2008
I wish you all the best. As someone already mentioned, apply to other schools cuz da business school you applied to is number 1 in Canada. I go to York University myself so I know wats up,

I think the regulations may have changed since you left Nigeria. . .A friend of mine who went for his appointment in December '05 was told to submit all his documents and undergo medicals - all at the point of submitting his application, meaning that every applicant at that point was required to do medicals; unlike before when you would be interviewed first before being issued medical forms. If the case I described above is what burnin went through, he may still require an interview.

I am not sure whether that was simply a new requirement to deal with the large volume of applicants at the time, or a permanent change in the way the High Commission carries out its visa process.

Furthermore, in my own personal case, I still required a 'mini' interview to be issued my visa - I had done my medicals and didnt hear from the embassy for almost two months, then I decided to go in and find out what the delay was, after which they belatedly informed me that they couldn't contact my undergrad university in Nigeria. shocked Anyways, I guess that was just to see whether I would be fazed or not, since I was still issued my entry visa that day.

York University is pretty tough to get into, you should try others in University of Ottawa, Queens University and McMaster University - those are also very high quality

I doubt 550 will get you into York. . .650 is the magic number. . .but anything above 600 and you've got a good shot!
Re: Travelling To Canada by Ezinwannem: 8:48pm On Jul 09, 2008
I don't know about admisison requirements. The admission office is in da right position to tell you so you provide them with what they request. You have to google "Canadian universities and college" and look for skools that offer MBA in winter. You might want to try by province to province starting with Ontario which is where Toronto is located.

Ah! you love York and you aint even here yet. Wait till u get dere. am obssessed with da school, lol

wetin dey inside York sef tongue grin just kidding.

Don't put all your eggs in one basket, apply to at least 3 schools and get working on your statement of purpose too as well as excellent references. GMAT scores are highly important, but when everyone applying has good scores, you'll need an extra edge to stand out wink

well all schools in Canada are up to good standard
Re: Travelling To Canada by asimit: 8:07am On Jul 13, 2008
This forum is really good and its helping a lot of students.Iam in the same shoe with Aydewale though i submitted mine 2nd of june withy the following documents:

-My bank statement with a balance of 1.6m
-Share certificates in my name
-My uncle statement showing about 6,ooo pounds and over 1m in Naira in his personal account thyough he doesnt have tax certificate as he is a retiree and has no dependent except his wife as all his kids are grown up and well settle
-Approval of Leave of Absence from my company saing my basic only will be paid while iam away and no contribution towards the educational pursuit and will refund all the payment if i fail to come back
-My Appointment letter and tgransfer to Abuja as the Manager
-Show my other source of income
-Statement of Objective

Iam confuse too as its taking long and the school will resume end of Aug and the school is threatening to withdraw my studentship if i dont pay up as they cant wait for embassy approval again but the Embassy already says you need not pay till ur study permit is approved and i dont know what to do again as i have finalise all arrangement from my end. ve forwarded the mail to the embassy with the hope that i can know my fate before paying.

Any suggestion on what to do please
Re: Travelling To Canada by igbogolo: 9:49am On Jul 13, 2008
@ azimit.

I attended the last canadian study fair in february. The CDHC representative said they only lookk at the fees for the first year in the applicants account. So for them to grant u a visa, they must be satisfied you have enough resources for the first year.
Is this your first year of admission? can u defer to next year? if yes, I will suggest you go ahead and make payment. Most schools need a commitment fee to know the number of students they expect and also to project for the academic year.
June 2 to me is a bit late. I have friends that applied in march that are yet to heat anything. This canadian embassy visa people are lazy oooo. what are they processing that wll take centuries to conclude? nawa oooh!
