Yes. I have what many call a "white name" and i notice in the past its helped me get jobs or atleast considered for interviews. Also with my name the assumption is that i am "classy" (we all have our sides...esp. Me lol) which again helps me in the end.

Yes it does have effect.That's why people change their names when they grow up and because our destinies are in our hands.

From the perspective of Igbo land names have more to do with the parents circumstance/expirience when a child is born & not really for the names to influence the child.
When I was deliverd, my father just landed a good job, believing that I brought him favour I was named Kelechi (ThankGod)
I wanted my first child to be a girl but ended up having a baby boy and we called him Kosisochi (As it pleased God)
So I think names have more to do with the parents wishes more than it shaping the child.

yes , i believe names do have effect on the life of the bearer. I saw it in reality n also it is biblical. like Abram to Abraham, Saul to Paul n also Jacob to Israel.All the changed name conveyed better meaning than the former.And the name change are all from the creator HIMSELF. If God can change the names of these people n afterwards their life became better as a result. I think its speaks volume in support of name change.
