Syncan: She's blessed among women cause she was choosen and favored by God to bear His Begotten. However, she also had to believe and follow Jesus' teachings one of which helped got her filled with the Holyspirit in Acts2:, as Jesus promised. She had to fight out her own salvation though this sin racked world to get to Heaven. Her role ended immediately Jesus Died and Resurrected. We don't need she prayers again. She by God gave us the way: Jesus. Mama Mary, has nothing left to do for/with the world after she died. Else, the Bible would have state so. I believe the Prayers of my Priests, pastors and fellow believers get answers becuz Jesus says so, Matt. 18:18-19. 18“Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be [a] bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be [b] loosed in heaven. 19 “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you ON EARTH agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.(NIV). Beloved, find Jesus, Know Jesus, Love Jesus, Follow Jesus... Without this NO ONE can See God. |

These wounderful people who lived and Did many wonderful things don't have automatic enterance to Heavenoooo. They needed to be Born again and their works inspired by their Love for Jesus. JOHN3:3 Any thing outside this 'na him them call gud for nothing' it does not have any eternal worth. God is no respecter of person... ajufinz: I am weary of repeating certain arguements on this forum, you may go to my profile and check my posts, I' ve discussed on the topic of saints prayers. More so several of my brothers and sisters here have said a lot on it and could even give you links. I have some limitation since I' m using a phone. The Holy Spirit will overshadow you was told to Mary before pentecost you know, but that apart, that she has nothing to do with us now, was never mentioned in scripture, yet you fabricated such an ascertion. Continue to acuse me of not knowing or loving Jesus yet the gospel of Jesus was spread and died for by people who shared the same faith with me. Syncan: The overshadowing of Mary before Pentecost was to make her conceive a son - Jesus. However, after that Jesus see born, He lived and left for all an example for those who most get to His Kingdom. but at pentecost, "Acts2:1 When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues[a] as the Spirit enabled them". Aha, the Holy Spirit overshadowed Mary to make her conceive a son. No doubt to you it was an ordinary act. You should have said "merely to conceive a son". May I enlighten you a little. When the Holy Spirit descend on Individuals, the fulness of the Holy Spirit descends, He does not come in parts, but the physical manifestation of the individual is only biased towards the unique purpose intended at the specific time. In the case of Mary...Conception for the purpose of bearing God the Son, in the case of the apostles...Speaking in tongues for the purpose of preaching to men of different tongues and tribes. However, the fruits of the spirit remains same for all such fortunate individuals whether received before pentecost such as Mary, or during pentecost such as the apostles, or even after pentecost such as we. Mary showed clearly that inner wisdom and knowledge when she displayed her faith in Christ as God (by wanting a miracle),her hope in God (by her instruction to the head servant), her love for neighbor by interceeding for the couple. These and more which she constantly displayed are signs of the presence of the Holy Spirit that has continued to dwell in her even after the incarnation. Pray for us sinners. |

He said 'come unto me all U who have laboured and are heavy laden, and I'll give U rest...'Matt.11:28. I agree with you that the Holyspirit doesn't overshadow one just for a partial work. However, b4 Immanuel happened to mankind the Holy spirit mainly came upon 'men' for a specific duty, Samson, some Prophets and Mary. While with the Apostles plus the women who followed Jesus were promise that I(Jesus) had to go so the another will come. This time to dwell in them. Mama Mary experienced this at pentecost too. Yes! To Believers He helps us to lead the Jesus life and sinners He convicts of sin and judgement. What does the prayer of Mary offer a sinner? Or those who prayer for her help? I delibrate introduced the Holyspirit jst to butress the fact that God the Father,God the Son and God the Holyspirit planned the creation of man and salvation of man from sin all along. Events from Genesis to Malachi showed to the coming of Jesus. Isaiah prophesied the virgin birth, the why and manner of Jesus' death. Mary was chosen for a particular assigment. Should she say no another would have taken she. We are all flesh and blood meant for God's glory, but He won't force us. |

I am aware that the more righteous any of my brethren is; the more effective the prayer(James 5:15). Hence I beseech You who claim not to be a sinner(though I have 1John1:8 before me)to pray for me,I also beseech my brethren gone before me, the spirits of the righteous made perfect(Heb.12:23) of whom among them,Mary,the mother of Jesus who is God,ranks highest, to pray for me too.Indeed I call on the Angels too, "pure spirit" that they are, to pray for me as well (Zech.1:12). Makin Him the only Mediator, Considering this part of Hail Mary...'pray for us sinners now and the hour of our death', what should Mary be praying for, and to whom? Consider my views What? Sinners need forgiveness of sin when & if they repent and seek for it. Why ask Mary when Jesus' death and resurrection was for the sin of the world. He said Matt. 11:28 come to me..., John 3:16, Acts 4:12... Nor is there salvation in ANY ANOTHER, for there is no other NAME under heaven giving among men by which we must be SAVED. WHO? All prayers from Sinners seek: God (Father,Son and Holyspirit) This is the model of Prayer God gave in the person of Jesus: Matt. 6:9-13 This, then, is how you should pray: ”Our Father in Heaven, hallowed be your name, Your kingdom come...” The bible is the standard for the Christian life... ajufinz:still don't get the point where mary's prayers violates God as the saviour. But am gonna ask you questions. Have you ever asked your pastor to pray on your behalf?.... Since Jesus' death on the cross was for our sins,so we're all free of our sins?... Does "pray for us sinners" in any make mary the way to the father?... "For there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we will saved", does "pray us sinners now and the hour of our death" violates that and how? I have always said this....ur theological insight gotten maybe from the bible or religious doctrines should be adequately balanced with ur real philosophical life. If you can clear me on the questions...then am done with anything concerning it...thanks. |

Chukskalidon: I find it hard to say yes, because I pray most times with a small group of believers. However, l give prayer requests and don't reject the prayers of my Pastor or Priest(My uncle is). This is in accordance with Matt. 6:9-13;18:18-19, (pls read). Christ Jesus' death on the cross and resurrection is primarily to break the power of sin and death over humanity. Those who are born-again do so because they've come to understand these truths and more: John 3:16,Rom.3:23;6:23(Pls Read) Rom 8:1-4 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in sinful man, in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit.NIV Chukskalidon: Violation by implication means does it go contrary to what God demands in the above scripture. Yes! Mary praying for "us sinners" means that the death and resurrection of Jesus does not make those who belief... free from the power of sin. By implication Mary becomes a mediator, this violates God provision: Heb 4:14-16 Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Am not seeing ur logic. How does "pray us sinners" affects the death on the cross...who forgives the sin...Mary or God? Or did you by any chance mistook "pray for us sinners" to "forgive us sinners". You can as well desist from asking your pastor to pray for you as it makes him a mediator. I watched a pastor the other say to a patient...let me pray for your sins and thereafter he says"your sins are forgiven"...you can as well call him Jesus Christ not even a mediator. If you can tell ur pastor "pray for my sins"...whats d big deal on "pray for us sinners". I can't even combine your argument with the Bible verses you're quoting...pls don't quote aimlessly. The people that wrote and compiled the Bible are scollars and philosophers... So I urge you to begin today to make use of your natural sense against the Bible...dats the purpose of your being. And as u must know out of 100% meaning of the Bible...you can only interprete half or less of it. Thank you. |

Whats the essence of being a christian when you downgrade the Bible? I told you the Bible was "compiled" and "written" by scollars and "philosophers". I didn't say the Bible is a "mere philosophy". St Paul wrote most of the books on the Bible but he's philosopher and well educated. St Augustine through the holy spirit attained a wide theological succes out of his greatness with theology and philosophy... The Bible wouldn't have been translated or compiled by a mere novice. So, I guess u understand what I meant.... Ask God for the wisdom to understand and interprete the Bible atleast to an extent cos its not a book..and try to upgrade your sense of thought and knowlede. Secondly, I didn't compare your pastor with the holy Mary... I gave you an example. And if you believe she's resting in heaven and that your pastor can pray for you to God...whats d big deal about someone resting in heaven to pray for you? 'Not the Roman Catholic fate or any denomination' The bible encourages us to prayer for and with one and other as believers on earth... Matt. 18:18-19. for Mary the bible does not give her that grace.(I've not seen) She and all the saints have no authority on earth, that belongs to the living (occupations of earth). Mary belongs with another world now. There Jesus is her King not son... I wish you can use the bible to establish what the place of Mary is on earth to: sinners & saints. The Bible verse you quoted says "whatever you bind on earth shall be bind in Heaven and whatever you released on earth shall be released in Heaven." And I understand from your assertions that on earth the Bible gives the right to pray for and forgive sins in the name God...thats good. I also understand that you made it clear that the saints, angels and the righteous ones in heaven are deprived of that right...as the Bible didn't include them...well thats very bad. I've asked you to ask for God's wisdom. I don't understand...must you understand and explain everything literally? Who is/are the heavens? What are the roles of angels and saints in Heaven? We are meant to understand the angels and saints worships, glorifies and give praises to God. And the Bible said that "he who sings well prayed twice". So, can you imagine the multiples of prayers rendered in Heaven to God? You are so wiseless to ask about the rights of the saints in Heaven in the Bible forgetting that Heaven is God and God is more than mysteries. You want the rights of the saints in Heaven? As God to send the list and time table in Heaven as you can be so lame and unthoughtful. You can as well show a Bible verse that says that saints don't have the right to pray. You so underestimate the Holy Mary and Her powers to intercede. Remember that in Luke 1:39-56, her greetings alone filled Elisabeth with the Holy Ghost...what do you think will happen when she prays at the feet of the almighty God. |
