Musings On The Beer Barn: The Cocktails by Abujafood: 5:47pm On Apr 16, 2013
The Beer Barn has grown to be arguably one of Abuja's top sports bars. The Beer Barn is located at No 72 Amino Kano Crescent, Wuse 2 - Abuja, which is a great location as it is easy to find. The Beer Barn occupies a very large space on the second floor, but also has a large balcony that acts as an extra space for mingling and lounging.

The first time I stumbled into the Barn, I was surprised at how packed it was. People were everywhere, the music was so amazing I had to go and hail the DJ. The DJ was brilliant as he transitioned skilfully from some of Nigeria's hottest new tracks like Banky W's "Yes/No", Whizkid's "Beat of Life" , to major American hit tracks like Ke$ha's "Crazy Kids", and Chris Brown's "That Nigga". The crowd was a mix of young university students, a few expatriates, and young professional men and women winding down for the evening.

In most Abuja restaurants and lounges you will find mounted wide screen TV's and the Beer Barn is no exception to this rule. And of course you would expect it from a Sports Bar. The Arsenal game I had missed previously was on screen, a perfect mix of socializing and catching up on my football, I had finally found my spot in Abuja.

The drinks menu at the Beer Barn is rich and full of variety. It is mix of well known spirits, global beer brands and wine but what really caught my eye were the cocktails; Martini’s, Sex on the Beach, Tequila Sunrise, Bloody Mary’s ,Cosmopolitan's, and so many more. I chose the Mohito which was a refreshing mix of lime juice, mint and kick. Later on in the evening I chased it down with a Long Island Ice Tea. I particularly like the fact that all their cocktails cost just N1,300.
