The beauty of Islam is that we are not permitted to insult what other people worship. Unfortunately, muslims are not given that kind of courtesy by many non muslims.

Compared to quran burning incidents, this is a rarity because it is part of the islamic religion not to insult what other religions rever.

It also shows that muslims can punish their own when they cross the line with other faiths.

jmoore: Death penalty for burning a koran and jail sentence for burning the bible. smh

As christians, they should free the cleric. It does not offend christianity if the bible is burnt.

This has nothing to do with christianity but everything to do with the law of their land. It simply means that all religions are held in high esteem and respected.

It also means that there should be no noise making when a non Muslim is made to face the wrath of the same law.

Nigerians witnessed the first-ever lighting of the National Christmas Tree on Saturday night in Abuja.

Speaking at the event tagged “Let there be light”, Nigeria’s first lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, urged Nigerians to embrace peace, unity and love during the Christmas season.

The Christmas Tree, which is 21 metres high, is strategically located at the Unity Fountain Park, besides the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja and adorned in the national colours of green, white and green.

The lighting of the First Nigerian National Christmas Tree by the Wife of the President was witnessed by the Minister of State for FCT, Oloye Olajumoke Akinjide; Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, John Onaiyekan; members of the National Assembly, wives of some Ministers, heads of ministries, departments and agencies of government, heads of secretariats, departments and agencies of the FCT Administration, diplomatic corps and the media, among others

CAN kicks against Islamic banking

By Emma Arubi & Luka Binniyat

WARRI – The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Delta State Chapter, yesterday, objected to the proposed establishment of Islamic banking by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, even as the Council of Imams and Ulamas in Kaduna State described the objection as, “insulting, insensitive and provocative,” saying it was a clear exhibition of ignorance on what the banking system was all about.

Delta State Chapter of CAN, which staged a peaceful protest along major roads in Warri, yesterday, said that Islamic banking was another way of Islamizing all Nigerians.

The placard-carrying protesters, who protested peacefully to Word of Life Bible Church in Warri, where the CAN’s President, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, was the presiding pastor, lamented that the ploy by the CBN Governor to introduce Islamic banking in Nigeria was an affront on the other religious groups.

Addressing newsmen, Chairman, CAN, Delta State Chapter, Archbishop God-do-well Avwomakpa, called on President Godluck Jonathan to intervene in the matter.

“The church is aware of the dangers that this issue is going to cause and we are not going to compromise our faith as Christians. Nigeria belongs to all of us and we are saying ‘No’ to Islamization of Nigeria,” he said.

Plateau the christian State! Muslims did not protest

http://thenationonlineng.net/new/news/norths-leaders-behind-plateau-crises-says-jang/
The governor who was represented by his Special Adviser on Religious Affairs, Rev. Choji Gyang said: “We keep asking ourselves why Plateau State is in crises. Why they are against Plateau is because we call ourselves Plateau the Christian state. And Islam is a very strong religion in the northern part of the country. So for Plateau to come out to say it is a Christian state it is against the wishes of those who don’t want any other religion outside Islam in northern Nigeria

My bro, there is nothing special in the book, it is like any other book. If you burn it, it will burn like any other paper. The only thing special is your understanding of the content within the book. In fact, if your bible is clean and in its pristine form, you are probably not using it for its original purpose. That does not mean you should not handle the book with care but don't idolise it.

I did not write the post you just quoted as mine. Plse make corrections to that sir.

See, you are also confirming what was written in the link i posted, how do you expect me to believe what you are saying about your american friend and his bible? Did you not see proof of a bible in KSA being held by sheikh Ahmed Deedat? Now that everything as gone electronic, will the saudi government start checking smartphones and laptops for Bible?

Yes, KSA is a Muslim country, and an independent country that can choose which laws to govern the country. What you quoted did not in any way proof that bible are forbidden in KSA, please you can provide something better else it's a big fat lie that bible is banned in KSA.
Freedom of religion, are the foreign non-muslims forced to become Muslims or prevented from praying in their houses? You should know that KSA is the home of Islam and must maintain that identity. At least, other Muslim countries do allow christians to build their place of worship.

That something is seen happening DOESNT MAKE IT LEGAL even if its done with officials. What I find strange and actually amusing is that you are arguing something that is KSA LAW! Its in their constitution! Must I, a non muslim tell you that the Basic Law as observed in KSA is based on the Qur’an and the Sunma which forms their constitution. Are you ashamed that its so, otherwise whats the big deal in saying its so, its not my fault. I a muslm but I dont have the responsibility of overseeing what a whole countries does. The mere fact that you fail to see or want to see what is a fact only confirms to me that in your HEART OF HEART know that its not right otherwise you wouldn’t be defending a lie tooth and nail.

There is NO separation of religion and state. The government restricts the establishment of places of worship and public training of non-Sunmi clergy. That the public ( mind you public) education system enforces the teaching of Islam and the textbooks are intolerant of Christianity and other religions. Must I as a non Muslim tell you what the job is of the mutaww’in. Why do the mutaww’in have as one of the duties the confiscation of Bibles and other Christian symbols. Must I really school you, really? You should be schooling me. Instead you are sending links and films not authorised by KSA.

WHY NOT DO WHAT I DID IF YOU REALLUY WANT TO GET EDUCATED AND CALL THE EMBASSY AND ASK THE SIMPLE QUESTION: ARE BIBLE BANNED? And you will hear what I heard: following the law strictly YES! But if you dont go about parading it in the open you should (he said to me should , but couldn’t guarantee) have no problem. I cant guarantee that you will be allowed to bring other religious material in though including bibles. Soon you will try and convince me I didnt have the conversation.

I know your argument is that there are Christians living there, but its tolerated. The true letter of the law according to the constitution is it ILLEGAL.

The truth is that KSA on one hand abide by it when its good for them ( do you know the business dealings they have with the western world, which makes it all the more hypocritical when they arrest and persecute Asian (mainly Filipino, Indian, Sri Lanka etc) workers for breaking these religious laws and dont say anything to a Brit or American.

By the way, the below mentioned was on Wikitravel. I would recommend that you send an email QUICKLY to the KSA embassy informing them about the blatant lie mentioned so they can rectify asap. We wouldn’t want people to think that they KSA actually enforce the below mentioned.

Religious items for religions other than Islam, including Bibles, crucifixes and any religious literature, are technically forbidden, although these days items for personal use are generally ignored. However, anything that hints of proselytism is treated very harshly, and the muttawa often bust illicit church assemblies and the like.Public observance of religions other than Islam is technically a crime in Saudi Arabia.

Something tells me though, you wont. I wonder why. Just because one stands by a false fact and screams and stamps their foot, doesn’t make it true. Sometimes the truth hurts, so what, just live with it. We didnt make the rules, we just have to abide by them.

tbaba1234: CAIRO (Reuters) -A Cairo court sentenced an Egyptian Muslim preacher to 11 years in jail for blasphemy on Sunday for burning a Bible during a protest last year outside the U.S. embassy.

Convictions for insulting Islam are common in Egypt, ruled by Islamists after the overthrow of President Hosni Mubarak in 2011, but more rare for cases involving the minority Christian faith.

Ahmed Mohamed Mahmoud, known as Abu Islam, who runs his own religious television channel, led a demonstration in September against a U.S.-made anti-Islam video posted on the Internet.

His son was sentenced to eight years in jail for the same offence. Both will remain at liberty pending appeal.

Moses smashed the tablet of the ten commandement given to him by God and God never got angry with him or purnished him for it. Does this itself not give you wisdom?
It takes spiritual maturity to understand this.
did u just say God didn't punish Moses for Smashing the tablets.why then did he not enter into the promised land but was only allowed a view.
Hitting the rock in the widerness of sin which he named Massah and Meriba, also the smashing of the tablets where a clear indication of Moses' hot temperedness and anger.
This two were reasons cited for not seeing the promised land.

The way some people reverence the holy books makes them nothing but idolaterers.the bible and the quran are ordinary printed books.it is your faith in the contents of it that classify them as holy.
Why jail someone for burning the bible or kill another for burning the quran.this is equal as saying that everyone whose bible or quran gets torn or falls into water or falls down should be jailed since they are now exotic books.

In fact ehn, the concept of "thou shall not judge" in christianity is just beyond me.

Another example is a woman who is provocatively dressed, they tell you, christianity is in the heart, "thou shall not judge"... A woman who is dressed Islamically, they say, they are pretenders, they do a lot of bad things and they go on to give you their personal experiences...

To me, it's just one word; HYPOCRISY!

Instead of them to acknowledge the sentence as a welcome development and a deterent to others, they are here spewing rubbish.

I was expecting some slack. No the luxor terrorists did not murder 258 innocent tourists they only murdered 58. Then one of the participants is now the governor of Luxor. Muslims here are cröoning that sharia states have justice i dare say that the whole trial is a sham to show Egyptian donors the Americans with their 1.3 b dollars of Aid that they respect the law and also force the free world to criminalise criticism of Islam. If you remember one of terrorists involved in the Luxor massacre of 258 innocent tourists in Egypt a number of years ago was 3 days ago named a governor of the same area. Talk about double speak and muslims excel in it. Jail a cleric who burns a bible but release convicted terrorists from prison and appoint one as a governor.

My dear brother, you have said it all, but remember this is not new as the meccans have done worst during the time of our Holy Prophet Muhammad [SAW] as the Holy Quran explained below:

17:89 And We have explained to man, in this Qur'an, every kind of similitude: yet the greater part of men refuse (to receive it) except with ingratitude!
17:90 They say: "We shall not believe in thee, until thou cause a spring to gush forth for us from the earth,

17:91 "Or (until) thou have a garden of date trees and vines, and cause rivers to gush forth in their midst, carrying abundant water;

17:92 "Or thou cause the sky to fall in pieces, as thou sayest (will happen), against us; or thou bring Allah and the angels before (us) face to face:

17:93 "Or thou have a house adorned with gold, or thou mount a ladder right into the skies. No, we shall not even believe in thy mounting until thou send down to us a book that we could read." Say: "Glory to my Lord! Am I aught but a man,- an apostle?"

17:94 What kept men back from belief when Guidance came to them, was nothing but this: they said, "Has Allah sent a man (like us) to be (His) Messenger."

17:95 Say, "If there were settled, on earth, angels walking about in peace and quiet, We should certainly have sent them down from the heavens an angel for an apostle."

17:96 Say: "Enough is Allah for a witness between me and you: for He is well acquainted with His servants, and He sees (all things).

No matter how had you try they will never relent in their attacks, but have glad tidings that we are on the right track and that is why evil will surely fight back. Peace!
